Actually, I lied, my converter is just some generic passthrough, not the official Sega one. Anyway, I just picked up Wonderboy in Monster Land and it doesn't seem to work. I've tried a different cart of the same game in the past and it didn't work either, so I figured maybe the Megadrive just doesn't like this game for whatever reason. Any ideas?

It works, you must either clip a wire in the controller or use a real Master System controller. Word to your mother.

If there is a problem, Joe'll solve it... pity that solution is so inconvenient, oh well. Thanks!

Are you using the Datel one?

No idea - I got it in a bulk lot with no case, it just says "Game Adaptor" on the front. Works fine though.

The only game that doesn't work with the official Power Base Converter is F-16 Fighting Falcon. Dunno about your generic one though.

I also had this problem with the official power base converter - Wonder Boy in Monster Land just would not work at all with my MD1 - but if I plugged the whole lot into my MD2 via my region passthrough cart it worked fine. Strange.

When playing with the Genesis/Megadrive Power Base Converter....The following cartridges must be played with the official Sega Master System control pads.....Model 3020,only.:

*Great Volleball
*Shanghai
*Alien Syndrome
*Wonder Boy in the Monster Land
*Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?
*Montezuma's Revenge
*Bomber Raid

The same goes for 3rd-party Sega Master Converters...Such as the "Master Mega Converter" (yes, the one with "GAME ADAPTOR" words in it) and others as well......

On a real SMS, Penguin Land can't be played with either a regular or 6-button Genesis pad (I forget which). Probably the same deal using a converter.

Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it. JOE JOE, BABY!

*ahem*

Is the controller thing a Power Base Converter issue or a controller issue? I'm working on getting a new Master System, but it doesn't have any controllers. I always used the Genny 6 button pad on my old MS2 anyway, I hated the regular Master System controller.

Its the pads that those few games have a problem with, they don't like the Start button being there whatever system you play the games on. So you can either cut the wire for the start button in the pad, or put a switch on it and those games will play fine.

That wire is responsivle for swapping B and C with Start and A... cut the wire and it should stay as B and C.

Just got around to finally putting a switch in my megadrive arcade stick, been meaning to do it for ages. Its the grey wire that needs to be cut, I think other official Sega Megadrive/Genesis controllers will have the same colour code.

Okay, that's good. I have like 80 Genesis control pads, I'm sure one of them would love to sacrifice the old start button for the cause.

I just cut the wire in a Sega 6 button arcade pad, and it is indeed the grey wire. Thanks!
