It was supposedly released yesterday, and I just got my copy of it. So, if you live in Europe you can go pick it up right now. The original release date was supposed to be September 30th.

The first thing you'll notice, unfortunately, is the generic manga artwork which is rather bland and poor compared to the earlier titles. Now you write in your name using the touch screen in the menu, I honestly don't like this as my hand-writing skills aren't that good, and even worse with the stylus.

Like Aria the whole setting and atmosphere is rather... White. Other than that they have taken some liberties and the whole modern-day timeline becomes more apparent. The introduction is set in the suburbs, and the first area is some german-esque village with a few parked cars.

The music has its up and downs. Sound quality is drasticly improved from the GBA, but mostly it sounds like it's being played through a GM bank. The instrumentation could have been much more personalized. I do like the jazz/funk vibes in the Wizardry Lab. I haven't spent too much time with it, so these are my initial impressions.

There's a good three weeks until the NA release, but I'm very much looking forward to this one. Have you found any cool souls yet, Gecko?

Hot curry (Works like molotov cocktail), and a HP-stealing vacuum cleaner :P

Also there's a weapon synthesis feature which allows you to merge weapons with souls to make them more powerful. I upgraded my brass knuckles twice and now they're quite powerful, my favourite weapon for now.

I would buy this, but my damn DS WAS STOLEN!

I miss it...

I've been seriously considering buying a DS for this game, but as it is, my money is mostly tied up in the expensive bastard that is "college." I may buy the game anyway without the DS to play it on, time will tell..

Gecko, so far what do you think of the game compared to Aria? I for one thought Aria of Sorrow was quite the righteous game, and my definate favourite of the 3 GBA Castlevanias, although SOTN still holds the crown for this style of Castlevania (also known as the Metrovanias/Castleroids, for those that buy into this terrible new lingo).

It's better than Aria, I don't know if it's better than SotN yet. It takes time to form an opinion without the horror that is initial impressions.
