so, here it is. i have my new(ish) 32" sammy in its HD goodness and my ps3 and loving it.
yet my MD2MCD2 and saturn are being neglected, what i want to do is utilise the vga functionality of the tv by using and av converter/upscaler. the MD and SAT will be hooked up to a multi scart box (via RGB scart cables), then the output from that in s-video to the v2vpro (or similar), then the out put from that to the tv's vga socket.

so my question is, will it work?

and by work, i mean are there any of you boffins out there who think this set up may actually make the saturn and the MD playable (i'm not expecting perfection) on a 32" lcd screen?

Im actually wondering the same thing, i've been looking all over for a mod that will allow me to hook up my genny to a 15pin dsub vga connection, so I can either play it on my pc monitor or my 47" hdtv. I know the gen will output RGB, but I don't know the specifics of how to go about this, or if it will even work.

if the screen is LCD, then fast games like Sonic are unplayable... I've yet to see a LCD that doesn't get blurry form Sonic.

Quite a few saturn titles upscaled on big screen LCDs look fantastic!

Then you've never seen an LCD with a decent response time.

how do you have your saturn hooked up to your LCD? And did you know you have two flies on your screen in the first pic? :P

mick_aka why are you stretching a 4:3 image to fit a 16:9 screen? Stretching = evil. Yuck! I can handle the black bars a lot easier than I can handle such distortion.

Afraid these are just some shots from one of my forum users not mine personally.

I certainly can't see any distortion, VF2 looks damn nice in 16:9.
Don't forget quite a few Saturn titles have proper 16:9 modes using anamorphic widescreen in most cases.

2ms (which is the fastest I've seen and used and is available here) sucked hard with Sonic. 2ms black to white.

I dont't know what to say to that TmEE, what make was the screen?

My 2ms Samsung LCD certainly has absolutely no 'blurring' whatsoever on any sonic title, I've even just tries through my VGA box onto my 4ms TFT monitor and all loos good.
Only blurring I'm getting is when I tried through my CTX TFT which is only 12ms.

I have Samsung SyncMaster 730BF, 4ms, gets little blurry with Sonic... and my brother has slighlty newer model which is 2ms but gets also little blurry.

so, in theory at least, the output should result in a better image?
does anyone have any experience with anything like the v2vpro?

it will degrade your image to some extent as there's too much conversions happening.

Only these Saturn games support 16:9:

High Velocity
NiGHTS
Christmas NiGHTS
Panzer Dragoon Zwei (II)

Maybe there were a couple more Japan-only games.

When I played Streets Of Rage 1 on my mate's 42" HD TV it blurred a bit after fighting...
