I don't know if any of you have seen it, but today I found a picture of a Sega Neptune. (Genesis + 32x, kinda like the CDX)
It's nothing that special... but here it is

I don't think I've seen that pic before. That controller looks almost exactly like the Japanese Saturn controller.

It is a Japanese Saturn controller. Look at the connector. Anyway, I wonder if there were any working prototypes of the Neptune.

That's a fake. Why would the logo say Genesis 32X? and why would it use a Japanese Saturn pad? I mean it's retarded...

I know that the SEGA Neptune is real, I was calling that console in the pic in the first post a fake.
I mean look at it - it screams "Made at home!"
I had no idea they released pictures of the American version, I always thought they had only a Japanese one.

Why does it look fake? it looks exactly like it should.
Its not a working prototype, but I think its real and owned by a collector, can't remember who though.

Look at the ridges of the console. They look out of place.
And not only that, there's been no confirmation of there ever being a working prototype. I'm supposed to believe a collector has the only working prototype or whatever and not one knows jack about the guy?
I still say it was made at he's home.

As I said its not a working prototype, its just the case. I don't know who owns it, but its been displayed at various game conventions.

Well, I still say it's fake. But what do I know? If it's real, you can all shoot me...

So if it's not a working prototype, it's...what...just a plastic case with some circuitry?

I wonder if that Neptune would fit with a model II Mega CD. Maybe they planned another console that also had the CD built in, with another cartridge slot for Master System games and one for Game Gear games. The name would be the Sega Sun.

I know that most of you are calling the Neptune a fake, However, prototype versions were made and were on display at last years' Classic Gaming Expo, in a cabinet with other rare or never made it to fruition video game ideas. The videos were on youtube, I'll try to link them to you guys. All it had was a brief clip of it anyways. It was supposed to exist, but I believe they scrapped it before anything came of it.

I for one think it is a slick looking console.

Yeah, by the looks of it I'd say it was in a museum or something.

Woa, never seen that one before thats a good pic. Looks real enough to me it is weird that they used a Saturn controller though :/
As for Sega never confirming a working prototype, why wouldn't there have been one? I mean Sega made a lot of hardware they shouldn't have, I don't see how much more harm one more bastard child would have caused caused Sega back in the day.

It didnt use a saturn cantroller, I think the saturn controller is in the picture because it is of some sort of value, like the neptune, and the blockbuster championship cartridge, also seen in the picture, it's just a collection of rarities. What is rare about the controller, I don't know, maybe it was william shattner's personal sega saturn controller. As far as them making a different CD console to work with the neptune, I doubt it, it looks like it has the same footprint as the current genesis 2, so it probably fits the sega cd2 just fine.

They're filled with dust. They light from the flash amplifies the dust effect. Amateurs love using the flash, so that is to be expected.
