There's a good chunk of Genesis games I want at the pawn shop, like five out of forty odd games on my want list, which is not bad considering I have some rarities on my list (MUSHA, Herzog Zewi, etc) but I can't buy anything on it right now!

Only because I gave a copy of my want list to my mom, because she is out shopping again, and she might find a couple, and I just don't want to end up with duplicates.

With my luck they still will be there, but a few where sold a while back.. I thought I was the only retro gamer in my area, guess not.

I know exactly how you feel. Parents seem to have a genetic disorder known as Gaming Retardation. Symptoms include:

1. completely butchering the names of games
2. buying anything that's cheap, regardless of quality
3. buying anything "cute"

It seems like video games might as well be advanced quantum physics theory, seeing as they have no clue what's going on.

The third symptom seems to only apply to moms. For example, I was out game shopping with my father, and I bought Mortal Kombat Deception... hell, he encouraged me to get it.

This may be off topic, but do any of you have fond memories of playing a video game with a parent? Strange but true - I remember when I was 8 years old, my father and I would settle disputes over Mortal Kombat on the Genesis! Stranger - he won. He knew all the fatalities and he knew all the moves. It was crazy. Any of you have any recollections of any situation like this?

1. My mom buys games for me and gets the names right
2. She has never bought something I don't want
3. Nope, never.

The thing is, I don't want to buy something that she might buy. She is not gaming illiterate. I've trained her well. I give her a list of games, and she buys them, and then I pay her back. My poor pay check!

I learned the hard way never to let my parents get my games for me. Whether it was asking for Sonic for the NES and then waving their arms in defeat as soon as they were told it wasn't on that platform, or having to wait for WEEKS until my dad finally "got around" to looking, I decided it wasn't worth it.

Again, she is an expert game shopper, I don't want to end up buying duplicates!

Hoping she gets something rare on my list.

Well, she got two of the games on my list, and I got the games at the pawn shop I wanted. Yay me.

My dad asked how I paid for the games, I said I had money lying around, I lied. I used my debit card. If he found out, oh boy he'd be mad. Luckily I got quite a bit of $$$ in it.

So I'm going this sunday and hoping to get more games.

What games did you get out of all this?

And I promise the debit card thing will never leave this forum.

I am a bit to old to let my parrents choose what game i want,But i learn my mom and dad al the tricks they should know about games and which games are good etc,but then my mom started whit that she wanted to play shenmue because i shown her how good that game is,and then she said i want to play the simple parts of the games whil you can do the hard parts,Come on play that game for yourself and dont involve me please. My Dad is also a alround gamer he played genesis,And mega Cd ,He was really adicted to jaguar xj220 for the mdcd, that game was dead on decent with damn fine and simple controls than My dad was playing that game till 3 at night,Then i tought afterall that i never had to inform my parrents about games,Now my dad is still nagging about that i should by me a Innerton and that kind of stuf or That i "must buy" the atari 2600 woody version, than it gets wors if youre parrents are just iritating you with the most shitiest stuff in games etc,My dad als reminds jeremy mc rath motorace,Damn i hate that game and he loved it and kept dragging about that stuff,he is now more a gennises ,nes gamer. He had a genesis for him self and he was happy as a little child with that stuff. But now i choose my own games i dont like to be depended of my parrents.ik can do my own work if that must be done,im almost 20 so its a bit logicall for me to do that. ;)ive bought Musha for 5 euros,Damn was i glad, only I still have to recieve it over the post, its about 2 months ago, think its lost,Bummer.
