Just beat Thunder Force IV on normal. I've been struggling with that game for some time now. The 8th boss was incredibly hard until I figured out all his tricky attacks, so today I beat him without losing a life. Then I died nine lives on the 9th boss. Died that credit on the final boss later, but won against him with a few lives left on the next credit. He was a lot easier than I thought he would be. I'm probably better than Neil West, who wrote my Mega Drive Power Tips Book. He lost a whole 99 lives credit before reaching the end. I didn't cheat. :)

I beat Sonic 2 for Master System with all emeralds this afternoon.

Then I beat Revenge of Shinobi with 90 shurikens in normal mode this evening. I think I got the good ending, since the girlfriend didn't die. I lost many, many lives on that headbanging old man, but finally I found a way to avoid his hair and keep the chains still. After you have hit him, you jump slightly up to the left and throw a shuriken that way on the chains. Zeed will then throw his hair in that direction and you will avoid it due to your landing. Then repeat and make sure you have space to do this.

There are slightly diffrences when playing the game on heavy other colors or something, but thats great that you finished it,its a great game it looks terrific Tons of animations and stuff this game is amazing only completed very fast idd it isnt that hard, but still the paralax in level 4 wowed me,and my bro was thinking i was playing a saturn game, how much apreciation does the game need more, are there any extra when you finish it on heavy?.

are there any extra when you finish it on heavy?.

You know how it has the rotating wireframe stuff during the credits? You get a different image for each of the difficulties; on Heavy it's your Ranger X mecha. There's also a bonus pic after the credits - an anime rendition of your machine with the word "Fin" inscribed below.

Hahaha, great, that's how I managed it!

I beat Puyo Puyo today! And boy, I am proud of that! That game kicks ass and I will buy the sequel soon. This is how I defeated the last boss, Satan:

We had almost both filled up half the screen, building up for combos. I was lucky and got one first, I think three transparent Puyo Puyos in all columns. That's caused big trouble for Satan who couldn't get any combos or get the transparent ones away, because she never got the right colours. So in the end, I just looked at her screen and made small single combos while her filled faster than mine. I was very lucky, because a few turns later, I would have died. It was much easier than I thought it would be, but I did it after many, many tries and you NEED luck to defeat this game. And this time, I was very lucky. :blah:

That game is actually beatable? I tossed it in with Battletoads in the list of games that just couldn't be beaten. I stopped playing when I couldn't get past I think it was 2-2 or 2-3 with Luigi. You're far more patient thatn I.

Not that big of an accomplishment but I did master the Mime Job on FFV Advance with everyone at the same time. It takes 999 ABP to master Mime but I did it in about an hour & 20-30 mins time. Knew of a great spot to get ABP. This was the first time I ever mastered a job that required 999 ABP.

He, I saw that review right after I posted that post. I enjoy your review thread a lot, especially considering your knowledge about the technical aspects of games. It would be great if you wrote something about for example paralax scrolling, scaling & rotation, stereo sound etc. for this site, like you have done many times on the forum.

I beat Knights of the Old Republic, and KOTOR 2 two weeks later. KOTOR 1 is awesome, KOTOR 2 kicks ass until the end. God, if the KOTOR 2 ending doesn't say "rushed" I don't know what a rushed ending is. I'm not even sure what that ending is supposed to mean. Bot games were really enjoyable, however.

Both games were finished on the "Dark Side" path.

Joe Redifer

Ghouls n Ghosts is easy. Getting the special weapon in the second loop is the hardest part about the game because it is completely random. The best weapons are the default spear, disc and best of all the dagger. Any other weapon is the worst, especially the sword. Turn the game off if you ever get the sword.

Command and Conquer: Renegade (No one suffer this dead horse of a game)

SNES:

Clocktower: First Fear
Donkey Kong Country 1,2

XBOX:

Farcry instincts
Doom 3
Brute Force
Halo 2 (on legendary)

Fable (big deal, took me like 4 hours)

Genesis:

Sonic 3 (finally got past that damn tumbler in carnival night)
Earthworm Jim

Fable (big deal, took me like 4 hours)

No kidding. The point with Fable is to continue to live your life and develop after the storyline is finished. Ever tried getting a shopkeeper drunk, pushing him out of the store, shutting the door behind him, and stealing all his stuff?

That's why beating Fable in four hours isn't the point. :D

hmm havent posted much on here but looking at these games i should post what i have beaten in the last 3-4 months of gaming,, here we go

MEGADRIVE
Phantasy star II - this game got me tricky in some places even with a 15+ year old hint book to help me but motherbrain was much easier than darkforce,, then tried to do phantasy star 3 but was boring.

Altered Beast - easy game most people should of beat this one not all good ending

Sonic 1,2,3,knuckles beat all of these in 1 and a half days didnt go for all emeralds and that but just wanted to beat them again because they are fun:D

Road Rash - fun game will start number 2 in a couple of days time

Ghould 'n' Ghosts - did everything beat the boss but i have to go through the levels again to get to the rite ending so what i did was put in a code to get to the last boss just to see the ending :P I DESERVED THAT ENDING I DONE EVERY LEVEL :P

MASTER SYSTEM

Golden axe warrior, completed this for the 100th time or what it seems that fun game not so great ending death adder was too easy just stand in the doorway and hit him

alex kidd in miracle world- this pissed me off a few times in the forest level but worth the complete

Sorcerer's Kingdom, and god did it blow, what a lameass storyline, so unfullfiling, and a horrendous battle system, what were they thinking, the final boss, the pinnacle of an rpg generally and he's beaten doing 3 things (he was a woefully stereotypical dragon incidentally), casting cure on main character, clicking attack with him and using one spell from the black mage (explosion incase anyone cares to know) what a waste of time, the only thing i can say was I am a fool and now i have learned my lesson

I thought those balls bouncing up and down during his third form were hard to dodge. But I managed to see through them the last time. Woohoo! I beat Phantasy Star 2!!!!!!!

History:

I have played both Phantasy Star 1 and 3 back in the day getting near the end, but for some reason or another I didn't beat either one. A few years back I got PS 2 and 4 in a cart lot I bought, but put them in storage and never played them. So, it was said that I was cursed, that I would never beat a Phantasy Star game.

After playing through Lunar and waiting for Beggar Prince to arrive, I decided to play Phantasy Star 2. Man, this game kicked my ass, I haven't really spent time leveling since Dragon Warrior on the NES. It really pained me when I got to the Dark Force (I forget exactly what it's called in PS2) and he just totally kicked my ass, no contest. I consult a faq and it said you should be at a minimum of level 35, I was at 28. I popped the bitch into the Nomad and leveled in the last dungeon with auto fight while I was doing other things, including watching the Super Bowl.

When everyone got to level 35, I went to that boss, and put up a hell of a fight. I had to try a few times, but I finally kicked his ass. Went on to the final boss, kicked her ass, and HOORAY! I had finally beaten a Phantasy Star!

It's been impossible to find both Magic Girl and Eliminate Down....
I've never seen a single cart for sale!

I've finally finished Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, and I'm having trouble concentrating on the race when there's so much wonderful scenery in the 80s and 90s Boulevard tracks :)

Plus there's the unlockable Super Hang-On and Crazy Taxi boards, which are AWESOME.

Magic Girl's a nice game, & I was happy to find a real copy. Reminded me a bit of Pop n' Twinbee (one of my favourite SNES games). Some of the sound's a bit off, and I don't think hardcore shmup-ers would like it (very much on the easy side, hence the fact I completed it in one sitting) but if you ever see one for sale I'd definitely grab it. Best unlicensed MD game I've played, anyway :)

Eliminate Down's on the Evil Bay relatively often, but will set you back an obscene amount of money!

Anyway, back on topic - I completed the Game Gear hack of SFII. Paid too much for this one, but it's pretty funny. :)
Also played through the Fun level of my Jp copy of Lemmings. If that's worth mentioning!

Just a quick info: in BR Portuguese, Treco (Robo-Kid's developer/publisher) can also have the meaning of "crap".
How appropriate, huh?

Completed Revenge of Shinobi.

I nearly gave up on that bloody evil maze level, but persevered.

Was also disappointed to find out my copy doesn't feature Batman. Oh, well.

Earthworm Jim 2. I felt like such an idiot because I had no idea the last level was purely a race until I looked up a video on youtube. I thought every last level had a boss battle thrown in there somewhere.

As if the title of that level didn't give it away either :bang:

I played this on snes the other day at a friends, the underwater race level almost drove me insane. I don't have the genesis version yet but I need to pick it up. EWJ 1 on sega cd is definitly a challenge on hard mode. The bosses get evil.

Yea that one was also nerve-racking for a while. There is a short cut maybe half way through it, i've never taken it (just noticed it a week ago) which probably saves 6 or 7 precious seconds.

THUNDER FORCE III twice on normal level.

I tried to beat ELEMENTAL MASTER as well, but the last stage was plain massacre. You must defeat all the boses you met from the beginning + the final boss. Quite hard i'd say, i will consider trying it again...

I got it used for $25, and while it's short as hell, what's there is an absolute blast to play. Great level design, spot-on presentation, and solid gameplay make for a winning combination. The camera sucks on occasion, and the collectibles are almost over the top, but the game is really fun to play in co-op, and it's probably the best Simpsons game made thus far.

I also pwned Thunder Force III on mania last night. It fired me up so much that I'm doing a Double Take article on it!

I just beat Donkey Kong Country 2. It was alright, but I have tons of better games I could've been playing instead. In the ending, Cranky Kong says I should've gotten all the DK coins and bonus coins and beaten all the Klubba levels. I can't imagine how much of a big fat waste of fucking time that would be. Good god. I feel sorry for anyone who went through all that effort with this game.

I always get warped too... and miss my fav stage :( I think it has something to do with playing too well in the stage after which you get warped... destroying less things help to avoid the warp. I beat that game with no hits too, one of my fav games shmups NES/FC.

Condemned 2: Bloodshot

Okay game if only for one part that literally made me and 4 of my friends jump. Weak ending though, one of those really open-ended with a final boss battle so easy you don't realize it until the credits are done rolling that it was really the final boss. Of course I'm not so up to date with modern games so maybe people are used to this kind of travesty.
