I finally got a copy of this and played it last night. I had no idea how good this game is! :D I am just blown away at the wonderfully detailed graphics and level design. Although I got stuck at the level 2 boss, what I saw was just fantastic! This one definately flew under the radar.
I really enjoy the part where you start scrolling up like a verticle shooter. The backgrounds here in level 2 were just fantastic.
I really like the weapons too. I read a review that said the weapons were nothing exciting. I couldn't stop staring at the missiles moving out of my ship and then forward and backwards. That one just rocks!
I can't wait to finish this game. It definately deserves to be up there with the best 16 bit shooters.

Yeah, I think the game is very solid as well.
One big drawback for me was the music. If I like a game, but I don't like the music I pass up on it.
In this case such a great game, but the music killed it for me. Sold it a few years ago.

That's a pretty stupid reason to sell a game. On topic, the game was pretty good. One of my favs for the Sega CD.
I personally loved the music. Heck, I loved everything about Bari-Arm; it's my favorite Sega CD shmup.

Robo Aleste was my fav, but this is now my fav. SCD shump after playing a few rounds of it last night.
It's a great game that really reminds me of Thunder Force 3 and 4 mixed. The font for the weapons and whatnot is the same. The graphics look alike and they both have rockin' music.
Hmm, we don't have a review of this game...
*Hint, hint. :P

Calling it stupid is a bit harsh. You would understand if you would know me.

Well, I think it's stupid to give up something you like.
Just an observation, nothing intented to be offensive.

None taken.
What I meant with my post was that I admire the solidness of the game(play), but I do not like playing it due to the music.

You could just mute the sound and play some music that you do enjoy listining to while you're playing it.

I don't think the music is that bad. It doesn't rock like Thunder Force 3 for instance, but what shooter does?

I played like that when I was little; now I don't do that anymore. I'm a rather strange gamer in that respect.

Thunder Force IV, Lords of Thunder, Eliminate Down, ALESTE, Battle Mania 2 and probably more I forgot.
Counting other systems you could make a huge list of rocking shooter soundtracks.
And not rock, but (shooter) soundtracks of note on the Genesis: Sol Feace, Bio Hazard Battle, Gynoug, &c.

Bio Hazard Batlle...now there is a cool score! Very strange and creepy.

I'm not saying no other shooters rock. Rather that TF3 rocks the most Imo

I don't know how much the Japanese version is. I bought the American version for 3.99 on ebay.
I'm seriously considering reviewing this game for tomorrow. I'll have to give it some playtime tonight to take the pics (modded Xbox is great for taking in-game pics).

So, is this based on a Turbo game? It looks like Gates of Thunder, or something like that...
Nope, it's an original for the Sega CD as far as I know.

Anyone commenting that this game has awsome music have oviously not played any real Pc-engine cd games.
Go listen to Gate of Thunder, Dracula X, Nexzr, Spriggan 1 and 2, star parodia, Ys series and i can tell u that the pc engine soundtracks make this game's soundtrack look like u know what.
Those all have great soundtracks (especially Dracula X and Ys III), but that doesn't take away from AA's quality.

He is on the Johnny Turbo end of the spectrum. You must hate the TurboGrafx-16, TurboDuo and PC Engine with an extreme passion if you don't know who Johnny Turbo is.

Descend into the insanity for yourself. (http://sardius.team-coti.com/reviews/jturbo/index.htm) Few things can drive me to inarticulate, seething rage, but Johnny Turbo ... jeez, it's like swooshing drain cleaner around your brain.
