My list is a fair bit bigger than that now too, since I exceeded the maximum number of words you can have in a post on the forum, it was getting too messy to keep updating it there. I intend to get around to putting together a website sometime, I've got lots of screenshots, magazine scans and stuff to put up. I'll get around to it sometime.

Wow, I truly feel like I got ripped off as a child now due to that fact that it was lived without "Socks the Cat Rocks the Hill." Awesome premise for a game.

I believe either EGM or Diehard Gamefan had some screenshots of that abomination. Looked like a rather unimpressive side-scrolling platformer... like the vast majority of 16 bit games that every developer was crapping out at the time.

I would have liked to have played Lufia

I've long since posted my scans of EGM's preview for the Genesis version of "Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures" from Issue # 73 (August 1995). The game was completed and ready for a fall '95 release, but it got canned.

I've played the ROM version of Ninja Gaiden, its actually reprogrammed by Sega (like Strider, Ghouls n Ghosts, etc).. But unfortunately it sucks in its unfinished state. I can see why they canceled it.

Yup, an inferior take on the original arcade beat-em-'up.

Looks like third parties were seriously washing their hands of anything Genesis, 32X and Sega CD throughout 1995. They left in droves, and that was before Sega of Japan canned support for all non-Saturn systems late in the year.

Hundreds of games were cancelled for megadrive/CD/32x; while a lot of them were after Sega announced they were concentrating on Saturn, loads of games were cancelled before that too, from the early days all the way to the height of the consoles popularity. Its the same for Snes which had lots of games cancelled aswell. Many games were simultaneously cancelled for both platforms.

When you look into it, its really surprising how many games do get cancelled for really popular systems, even today. So many games get shelved when complete because publishers decide not to risk spending money on distributing them.

It Came from the Desert (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9NXqGTJtOQ) was basically finished, but never released. You can download it legally from the Cinemaware website (http://www.cinemaware.com/clsgame_itcame.asp?sel=genrom).

It looks like MD Ninja Gaiden was being done by Opus. (http://gdri.smspower.org/wiki/index.php/Blog_-_01/21/08-03/06/08#Find_of_the_Day)

Funny how Cinemaware had it and released it, since they didn't develop the Megadrive game which is totally different to their original, and it was EA who were going to publish it.

Is the Genesis It Came From the Desert similar to the Amiga version, or is it a third distinct version?

All these lists usually are limited to the NA market. It's sad that we might never know what games were canceled in Japan.

Its totally different to the Amiga original version, and the TurboGrafx FMV game. Its an over head mostly action game, but there are some puzzle elements - you need to find items and combine them to create weapons, talk to people in the town and so on.

Funny, isn't it. For a place seemingly obsessed with videogames and information technology, it's like some swirling black hole as far as videogame information and technology is concerned.

I reckon more Japanese correspondence is required on the Internet, besides that of unwashed otaku social outcasts.

Here (http://www.gamengai.com/bn_inf.php?type=translation&id=1436&l=e)'s a translation of something called Goodbye Soft from BEEP! Megadrive. These games weren't necessarily completed, though.

Tetris was all ready to go on store shelves, but was pulled for legal reasons.

That list is from an actual Japanese publication. Global Gladiators did not come out there. Explode Star is also listed, and that came out in the US as Trampoline Terror.

I can't believe there was a Mallrats game planned! I guess the poor box-office results of the movie forced them to cancel the game. The game probably would've sucked, but I would have liked to have played it since its my favorite Kevin Smith movie.

I would also have liked to have seen Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures get released. The SNES version was excellent.

What is with Might and Magic 3 - Isles of terra. Wasn't this cancelled for the genesis system? I think its only available for Sega CD in Japan.
