There is this fishy situation where I bought games to a guy on ebay and he says he cannot accept my paypal money because quote

"We have been in contact with paypal and they have said that as personal account holders (which we are), We can only accept 2 card payments PER YEAR. (not per month) and we have reached that limit.
There is no need for us to get a business account which can probably accept many card payments, because we are not a business. (We are a family with a few items here and there to sell) "

is this true (never sold anything on ebay)? You cannot received money more then twice from a credit card with paypal personal? hell.

Yep its true paypal basically force people into having a business account - and then ridiculous paypal fees to go on top of the ebay ones. If you put money into your paypal account, then you can pay them without having fees involved. Or you could offer to pay by cheque.

ebay/paypal is getting on my nervesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!

I'm trying to pay this chap.

now I'm trying to put money in my PayPal account. When I press Add Funds, I get this

"Add Funds is Not Available
PayPal does not currently offer the ability to add funds from your bank account.

When you make a payment, PayPal charges the buyer's credit card and instantly credits the seller's PayPal account."

I have a bank account and credit card. I have a personal account. This is ridiculous.
It has been an hour and googling didn't help me either.

Well theres always the option of a cheque or postal order if the seller is in the UK too.

But really that seller wont be able to get away without having a business account on ebay for long, since almost everyone pays with paypal now. Ebay force the business account on people to get all the fees, they only offer the personal account to get people signed up as they would be less likely to become an ebay seller if fees were there from the start.

OK I will ask him. Should he get a Premier or Business account? Would that work as well?

oh by the way I'm not in the UK, but in Belgium. I have an UK address though. This is bad day for me. The last moronic thing that happened was to be unable to buy a game from a seller because he only accepts paypal and people located in the UK. I tried to create an account on ebay.co.uk but of course it pushed me back to my account registered on ebay.be. I HAVE A BLOOODY UK address you MORON!:?

what's the bloody use of the personal account?

I can't "Add Funds" argghhhh. Why?

Who else succeeded lately to add funds? I think they removed this possibility.

Mines working fine, added funds yesterday. You have got your bank account registered with paypal haven't you? I can't remember what you had to do now it was that long ago that i opened my paypal account, but they send you a small amount of money to your bank account and you have to put the amount you have recieved into paypal to confirm that it was your bank account or something. Do they still do that phone verification thing too?

thx ninja for helping.
well I did have to confirm my Credit Card by the process you described. (small amount check). Never did any phone confirmation.

when paypal told me I could not add funds with my credit card, I added a bank account. but paypal still says I cannot add funds, and it never asked me to confirm my bank account. It is really weird. It says service currently unavailable for my bank account. maybe they are phasing out the add funds thing?

I doubt that very much, the more options people have for putting money into their account means more money for people to spend, that's more profit they get every time someone buys something with paypal.

Your credit card hasn't expired has it? I've had that happen to me before, that's why i only use credit cards if the seller has messed me about now, they get charged a higher percentage for accepting a credit card payment than a cleared funds payment. A nice little kick up the ass if someone has peeved you off :D.

Isn't it great that the clusterfuck of Paypal is a mandatory payment option for all ebay auctions?

the fees are too high and some people disagree with Business Account. They are not a business, therefore for Tax purpose they don't want a business account.

I heard the big brother state is watching you on ebay.

Yeah, there's no getting around avoiding PayPal's business account. It's been in the rules as of at least a couple of years ago that to advertise or use PayPal in an auction is to imply that you agree to the business account terms. I tried to sell some items about a couple of years ago stating I would only accept PayPal via a checking account payment, and when one person complained to eBay about that, it negated all of my auctions and closed my account.

ebay just replied me

Dear C-P Bentley,

Thanks for contacting PayPal. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you
with your questions.

Unfortunatly there is no option available in Belgium to enable you to
transfer funds from your bank account to your PayPal account.

PayPal currently does not offer this option for Belgium PayPal users,
apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Sincerely,
Michael

So YOU CANNOT DO IT IN BELGIUM>>>>>>>>>>>> SHAME!!

"Please let me know if you need further assistance."

Typical Paypal sign-off, there, generally after they've failed to help you at all.

Bet they'll send you a "How good was our service?" form next :)
