And I noticed the newer ones are starting to use DVD and even GD-ROM technology I even looked up House of the Dead 4 and somebody has the disc for sale ( 1000.00 out of Question :p ) but no hardware, I wonder where they find these lol?
But anyway I was wondering does new hardware and arcades like this get dumped eventually? Or do we have to wait like 10 years or so until they are easier and cheaper to get a hold of? ( Obviously it does not matter since these machines run on hardware that we cannot emulate and know very little about but I was just curious )

Oh we can emulate it alright.

Some are even PCs!

How can we emulate them? I have been looking at the specs and some of the newest ones are sporting GeForce 8800s!

Quite easy.

If it's using a GeForce 8800, then imagine if you either have one in your PC, OR just have another comparable video card. They still have to use either OpenGL or Direct3D..

Ones that use PC's sometimes have Windows 2000 on it, and are just Win32's...

Check out MAME, it can handle a lot of arcade machines. Not sure about the newer ones though.

MAME is a big slow mess... but it works at least

MAME works great for many people. It's mean to be as accurate as possible depending on the hardware it's emulating.

I play MK3 arcade on MAME on my laptop. full speed

your laptop is pretty powerful too I guess... my 1.1GHz Celeron and shitty onboard video aren't enough for many MAME things...

Developers should have a relatively weak computer, so they just HAVE to write fast code...

My laptop is:
Dell Latitude C610
Pentium III 1GHz
ATI Radeon 7000 Graphics
Intel Integrated Audio

well, your GFX card is way superior to mine, and PIII kicks ass of Celeron.

But the radeon 7000 is 2003 tech. It's old..

Surely you have a far better computer by now.

The only thing the Celeron may not have to the PIII is SSE, and the higher cache memory.

Things like model 3 aren't really working well with MAME, but a new version of the nebula model 2 emulator (http://nebula.emulatronia.com/descargas.php) is out, and it supposedly works quite well.

a mess is right. Some games like Chase HQ and NBA JAM work perfect, but Outrun/Outrunners have perfect graphics but the sound is super slow, NBA Hangtime runs horribly slow altogether, and I can't get any version of Street Fighter II to work (it keeps asking for additional files, if anyone can help me with that, please PM me, Street Fighter II is like a top 5 favorite arcade game of mine).

SFII (all versions) works perfectly on my computer. This includes SFA3, and MvC. The only one I can't get running is SFIII, but I'm not sure if my computer could handle that anyways. What version of MAME are you using? It's possible that it could be outdated.

Well I'm pretty sure we cannot EMULATE House of the Dead 4 XD

Actually it's a PC in the arcade machine.

You very well wouldn't need to emulate it..

Scroll up and see the machine and specs.

I used to run cps and Neo GEo games fine on my ancient Pentium 3 400. My amd rn at 1390 at ran many much better. I have 3ghz now it still does not to run any ST-v games very well. I really want to play Cotton 2. The software seems to be more important then anything.
