Boom shakalaka! The biggest of all arcade sports games comes to home consoles! Yes, just about every console short of the CD-I got a port of NBA Jam, so how does the Genesis versions fare? Why not check out our full report (http://www.sega-16.com/NBA%20Jam%20review.htm) and see?

The Genesis cart version was great... the CD version was a mess though. And it could've been so good.

I don't see why the review says the SNES version controls better. I thought it was the SNES that didn't control as well; the Genesis felt closer to the arcade.

I liked Hangtime much more, but Jam was great in its own way.

NBA Jam was the only non-hockey Genesis sports game I ever played. Still love it.

I don't think it'd be completely innacurate to say NBA Jam is to basketball what Burnout is to racing games, is it?

Same here. I play hockey, but not much else other than Hangtime.

I don't reacll being a very big basketball fan (I played NHL games) but I couldn't escape NBA Jam! This game was popular in my local arcades and most of my friends either bought the Genesis or SNES version. I never owned it but I did participate in gaming marathons at friend's houses over this. Thanks for the review! I haven't thought of this game in a while so I may have to hunt it down soon.

Does anyone else miss the days when you got excited over an arcade game being ported over to the Genesis or SNES? It may have marked the begining of the end for arcades but there was something really cool about owning the home version. <hint>This may make a good Feature one day if it hasn't already been done.</hint>

I think NBA Jam is a really good game and it does have a lot of replay value. I remember buying it back in the day when it came out. I couldn't wait to own it. It's just plain fun and I still play it from time to time.

So far as controls go...

Genesis: better for SFII.

SNES: better for NBA Jam, MK.

Shoulder buttons made the difference in this case.

With NBA Jam, I was underwhelmed by the port. The audio sucked for both the main console versions of the time.

I've never been that happy with the home versions. Even the PS NBA Jam didn't feel or seem to look quite right.

It didn't help that I stumbled upon a test version of TE back when it was new -- meaning you could enter some pretty fantastic codes. No home version had that. :(

NBA Jam, my favorite sports game of all time. I didn't think the Sega CD version's load times were that bad. They're comparable with PSX Jam TE. I stil play the Sega CD Jam with my friends to this day.

Did the Sega CD version have the much-ballyhooed (and barely noticable) player scaling like the 32X version did? I remember that "player scaling" was all over the 32X version's box like it was something cool, but the players barely changed size at all as they got closer to the screen.

I hate Acclaim.

Marketing. Remember the 8 "Mega" cartridges??

Sega CD Jam didn't have the player scaling. I never could figure out why it wasn't included, seeing as how scaling was always one of the Sega CD's features Sega tried to hype up. Oh well, probably just lazy programming by Acclaim and Iguana.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person that still enjoys this title. I still play it today...Malone and Stockton are and always have been my team of choice. I've never been a sports fan, or even a person who plays sports games, but this one hooked me.

TE. Hangtime really isnt a true NBA jam title (i know it officially is, but it isnt, come on), and TE is pure crazy sports fun. BOOMSHAKALAKA!

I recently got the Sega CD version. I can't wait to try it, but I can't play it until I get this fucking TV hookup in the mail. The place I bought from is in Florida, so it should've been here sooner than expected.
