I have been working with a group of spaniards on a project that should slap BoR on the fingers. The engine is more accurate, and there's a lot of additional improvements like new moves, a CPU-controlled partner like in Final Fight 3, alternate paths, alternate character palettes, etc. Other than that, Adam is back and fully playable. All the old characters can run, too. I have been helping out by redoing the soundtrack (Just 3 tunes in ATM), and also some level design (Nothing is finished and in the game yet, for example a recreation of Round 1 from SoR1)

Right now it's obviously little more than a glorified engine test, there's a whole lot of level design to be done. Here's a screenshot while you're downloading:

oooh... will you guys have editing tools?

Is it just going to be a PC port of SOR or something like that?

Sweet! I'll definitely keep my eye on this!

Sweet shadows. If you continue making subtle improvements like that, I'll be thrilled.

Very cool. Sega won't give us an SOR sequel so this will definitely be interesting.

I'm blanking. When was the last console 2D beat 'em up? There wasn't a thing this gen, was there?

Well, there's the underwhelming Boost mode in Guilty Gear Isuka, Viewfiful Joe 1 and 2 (3D graphics/2D gameplay; plays sort of like a new generation Comix Zone), and the DC/PS2/Xbox ports of Beats of Rage.

If you can remix the original's sountrack and use that as the BGM, I will present you with a coupon for one (1) Internet, redeemable at a Toys-R-Us near you.

Well, that's what I do. You can hear a (very unfinished) remix of Stage 1 from SoR2 and a near-complete remix of the boss music.
