In a bold move that pleased many fans, Sega upgraded and placed both Game Gear Shining Force games on a single disc for the Sega CD. They even went so far as to include some awesome extras, like a wonderful soundtrack and an exclusive battle! Shining Force CD is a definite purchase for strategy/RPG fans and Shining faithful alike! Shining Force II uses sprites and not (pre)rendered characters. What exactly are you referring to here?

So SfCD is the two Game Gear games together? Ah... Always thought it was the Genny titles.

There was a third game released on the Game Gear and the rom was translated recently.

I agree with almost every single point made in that review. I probably would've rated it a little higher though. Then again, I'm a Shining Force Freak. Only one I haven't played is FC, and that's because I can't no matter what I do my security systems won't filter it.

Shining Force II uses sprites and not (pre)rendered characters. What exactly are you referring to here?

Crap, I meant Shining Force III on Saturn. Lemme fix that.

Funny enough the three Game Gear SHINING FORCE games are being released again on mobile Phones in japan under the title SHINING FORCE CHRONICLE.

Stick with the originals is my advice. I cannot trust Sega to make a Shining game without screwing with my childhood memories. Shining Tears was only half-way decent and everything else has sucked. So yeah.

Hmmmm yes, Shining Force CD, which I just recently managed to get my hands on myself. Great game it is in my books, and a fantastic soundtrack to boot. The only thing that kinda stinks is that there are some recycled sprites used for a couple characters, the two monks come to mind here. But other than that, the game is awesome, and if you have a Sega CD, you owe it to yourself to get this game.
