At Digital Press, there's a thread on actual response letters from game companies in the past. One of the letters posted is from Sega, in response to a letter "about random things Sega was doing wrong," from 1994.

I've seen something similar to this over at pcenginefx with letters from Hudson/NEC (guess who posted those!).

I wish I had mine still. I had many testy ones from Nintendo (WE can't tell you how to beat level 7 in Zelda it would ruin the fun. I was 9 for fuck sakes. ) and a very nice one from Sega. I had asked If the Ninja Turtle arcade game would ever come out of Genesis. They politely replied simply by saying it was not in the works and giving me a list of what was at he time and even gave me a Genesis poster.

if you scroll down in that thread and read the Wozniak e-mail, thats pretty effin cool. Some of you may have seen him on "Kathy Griffin: my life on the D-List" (probably not), and he has literally a $1 billion+ and still eats at cheap shit restaurants like iHop. All he wants to do is just screw around making computers all day, you gotta love that. Although, the one thing I was confused about is that I thought Steve Jobs made breakout...maybe he was the concept designer and Woz made the hardware, i don't know...

Where do I begin there is so many peices of stupidity in that letter. Don't get me wrong Neo Geo is a great system, but that guy is such an idiot.
1)
Neo Geo is measured in megaBYTES not megaBITS Neo Geo is measured in megaBITS not megaBYTES
2)
We are much faster than a 32-bit system because we can "byte" off 330megabytes Oh so know your going to switch around CPU power with the amount of memory. Okay, that is just like saying "Nickelodeon doesn't have Spongebob, Fox is the channel that has the Simpsons."
3)
I don't like people who speak before they know the whole story Joe knows more than you, you idiot!
4)
SNK has 7 "speciallist" processors to do everything instead of just one processor. Okay, that must mean the Genesis has 5 processors: 68000, Z80, VDP, YM2612, PSG, if your including video and audio DSPs.

So what was the gist of the letter you wrote to SNK?
Comparing NEO GEO to TG-16 and Genesis?

No, just calling SNK out on some BS that they were advertising, such as claiming their system is 24-bit and how their games were (for example) 46 megabits and not 46 megabytes.

Did you ask any "true technicians" about the megabits/megabyte stuff?

Lol, SNK is such a fucked up company. They made some cool games, but no corporation on the face of the earth has been so adept at mishandling literally every product they have ever made.

Well since I am a technician of a couple different trades, I asked myself and I answered that it was measured in megabits.

Here is the SNK Neo Geo REAL DEAL letter.
I like how he actually didn't know the cartridges were really megabits (125kb=1 megabit, appr. 1/8 of a megabyte), or at least was in denile. I don't know why any companies bragged about megabits anyway, when I saw that crap I was like "16 megabits, is that good? I don't effin know, I'm 9" Only engineers or technicians could appreciate a high bit/byte count, and even then it doesn't necessarily mean the game is good. Oh, and LOL at 24-bit, if anything, combining 8-bit and 16-bit would make it just 8-bit, but I know the configuration of the Neo made it actually 16-bit, which is another thing that doesn't mean jack shit in terms of power. Why didn't any video game console just go by CPU Mhz like PCs? Then maybe people would've understood what the Genesis had over the SNES's 1337 MeGUh BiTz.
That can't be a real letter from SNK.
Remember, SNK isn't a single entity, this is one dude that works for SNK (and hopefully not for much longer after this letter considering how ultimately unprofessional and erroneous it is). Not to call you out specifically, but I'm so tired of people saying "Sega screwed up" "Nintendo screwed up", Nintendo and Sega are just names, its the specific individuals at the company that screwed up. Another thing that annoys me is people that say "Sega shouldn't have made all those FMV games for the Sega CD" when in fact most of them were made by Sony Imagesoft and the ones Sega made were actually OK. And again, its not everyone at Sony Imagesoft that made the decision, it was probably some dipshit marketing major that knew nothing about video games.
Now, post the ads with these claims. I remember early NEO GEO ads featuring hot dogs for some reason.
They were 24-bit, 330 megaBITE hot dogs.

I remember when I was a kid I hated Sony games...I had nothing but bad luck and hated most all of them (except mickey mania) and eventually avoided any game with a sony logo just assuming it would suck...I was exposed to the Mickey game through a friend.
Bram Stoker's Dracula (both SCD and Genesis versions are terrible but the SCD game is strangely addicting...)
No Escape
Ground Zero Texas
Hook
Cliffhanger
I don't know if sony actually made or just published them but as a kid I saw their logo and assumed it would suck. I really laughed when I heard that Sony was going to make a game system. I figured it would flop and that the up and coming Saturn would rule the gaming universe.
That never happened :( Instead the Saturn became the Antipope of game systems.

See, thats just another proof/reason that its the PEOPLE behind the brand that make the difference, not the brand itself. The reverse happened with Sega, Sega has gone down the shitter in recent years because obviously the people that work there now are complete retard asshats. Sony Imagesoft was probably a small group of borderline retarded people making games, you can bet the team that worked on the PSX and the games for it had no ties to Sony Imagesoft at all.

It's from a time-travelling fanboy who 'went native', killed off SNK's PR division, wore their skin, and answered their mail. Nothing special, really. *tch*

Chad Okada........I've heard that name before in reference to SNK. Now that I just Googled it, it seems that he was a reknowed PR guy for SNK back in the early '90's, and quite knowledgeable about games himself.

That must also mean that the Mega Drive and whatever SNK made again (Forgot the name, NeoGeo wasn't it?) are more powerful than the 64, which only used like, 1 CPU for everything (Unless my memory is that bad).

Most every system has some chips that carry the workload of video and audio processing off the CPU, such as the PPU chips in the nes and snes.
PPUs are actually pretty much the same thing as VDPs, only PPUs are made by Nintendo and VDPs are made by Sega. I don't know what SNK calls them, but the Neo Geo itself has a chip (or several) that is similar to the VDPs and PPUs used in the Sega and Nintendo consoles, respectively.

Like a Dramatic reading, I tried playing around with different voices, so far, I think I can't help but sound like that weird genie looking guy from that promotional Sega Saturn VHS tape that was sent out a long time ago.
