My local game store has it cart only for eight bucks. Is it worth picking up for that price? They also have some other games, an xEye, a PBC and an original master system (which I will probably buy).

Other Games I want to get that they have: Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (cart only), Rocket Knight Adventures (complete), Dinosaurs For Hire (complete), College Football USA 96 (complete)

and a plethora of other titles.

But is VF 2 worth it for 8 bucks? Is it rare?

No. If you wanna have it for your collection, buy it complete; at least the PAL-version is not in high demand, so I guess it is the same with the US version.

8 Dorrals is just too much; especially if you want it to actually play it. I´s not really good. You have bad graphics and sound, only 8 characters and only the very basic modes; even the 3 years older SF II SCE offers you much, much more.

Virtua Fighter 2 on MD/Genny is the worst beat 'em up I've ever played, after the (pirated) Soul Edge. D:

As a fancy $8 drink coaster, yes. Otherwise, no - it's garbage.

Buy Rocket Knight Adventures and the Master System then leave the rest.

what's a PBC? I'd get the X'Eye if the price is right ($50 or less if its in good shape and works is a steal). FWIW, the X'Eye supposedly has the best sound of the Sega CD systems, plus its a nifty all-in-one system and its a nice showpiece too "hey, come play Sega CD games on my JVC, that's right, JVC console!"

PBC=Power Base Converter, its the official Master System converter for the original Megadrive/Genesis.

Choose Rocket Knight over VF2, to do otherwise would be pure madness.

I ended up buying:

SMS - version 3.1 (with pistol - 40 bucks)
After Burner (4 bucks)
Shinobi (which I had more fun with than the revenge of shinobi on Genesis) (4 bucks)
Hang On/Safari Hunt (2 bucks)
Choplifter (3 bucks - played the 7800 version alot when I was a wee one)
Space Harrier

Rocket Knight Adventures (8 bucks - complete)
VF 2 (haggled down to 6 bucks - you were basically right about it. It isnt as bad as SW: Masters of Teras Kasi however, at least in my book - cart only)
ESWAT (2 bucks - cart only)
Mortal Kombat (5 bucks - cart only)
Winter Olympics (may be a PAL version, because it says "mega drive" on it - yet has NTSC shape.. weird (2 bucks - cart only)
Last Battle (complete - 8 bucks)
007 The Duel (compete - 8 bucks)
Wheel of Fortune (complete- haggled down to 4 bucks)
Micro Machines (complete- 8 bucks)

They had a weird Sonic The Hedgehog box which may have been the Canadian one - had multilingual explanations on the back and looked like the PAL cover - I almost picked it up, but I already spent enough money today as I bought some games at GameStop today (I know, I know).

Dammit 'bone.........why'd you buy VF2 and LAST BATTLE??? Did the "Aarzak is lost" video inspire you to buy it??? :) Because the game is damn near unplayable in its monotomy otherwise.

I suspect our sports-loving friend is secretly a masochist.

Somehow I picture him trudging through LB's 347302374 dungeon levels, all while tears stream down his face like a waterfall from the boredom and crapiness, yet he can't take his hands off of the controller. Oh yeah, not to mention the droning, repetitive music.

I feel that way sometimes whenever I play "Super Thunder Blade", even for just a few minutes.

I lol'd.

No, it was just complete and not too expensive. And maybe it'll be worth a playthrough for an article on here or on SydLexia.

Aarzak Is Lost is a damn good song and it pretty much describes the game the best.

For this comment Raul looks down on you in anger!

Shinobi on Master System is awesome, I prefer it to the Megadrive games, its more fast paced and arcade like - naturally since it was an arcade game and the others wern't.

PlayGen, I never thought you could be so misguided!

Revenge of Shinobi is by far the best Shinobi ever, with SMS Shinobi being last after Shadow Dancer, Shinobi III, GG Shinobi II and GG Shinobi I....you must have been brainwashed my friend!
Shinobi was a nice first part, but it was bettered by it´s sequels in about every way.

Pray to Raul that he may forgive you your sins....

1st - Revenge of Shinobi
2nd - Shinobi III
3rd - GG Shinobi
4th - GG Shinobi II
5th - Shadow Dancer
6th - MS Shinobi

My opinion, for whomever might care :)

(Also - VFII stinks, like the dung of a dog dead of disease)

I will agree with that, but if we include all Shinobi titles it has to look like this:

1st - Shinobi X
2nd - Revenge of Shinobi
3rd - Shinobi III
4th - GG Shinobi
5th - GG Shinobi II
6th - Shadow Dancer
7th - MS Shinobi

Virtua Fighter on the megadrive is a good fighting game, better than most.

compare it to Time Killers or ClayFighters

Besides I find MK 3 pretty dull and repetitive, Shaq Fu is very similiar with very few moves.

too many times I think, people value a game on its 1 player mode on this forum.

ALL the Sonic the Hedgehog games for the Master System are PAL/Canadian. There is only ONE version of Sonic the H for the Master system that was for a specific US release and the only difference on the box is a bar code. However, said American version is extremely rare and worth hundreds of dollars and it is highly unlikely that this is said game. The Master System is region free and any game from anywhere in the world will play on an NTSC system. PAL games included. Don't let anyone tell you that it's rare for the MS either, I've saw one dude try to sell the SMS version (canadian for sure, I triple checked) for $250 !! I explained to him what actually the situation was, but he told me I was just trying to skimp him. So I gave him back the games I intended on buying and haven't seen the dude since.

I would like Shinobi III more if Yuzo Koshiro had done the music.
