Since you don't have to have a grounding plate to play the system, it could be that I am doing something wrong with connection or I got a broken system. How do you hook up a working Sega CD model 2 system properly (Step by Step)?

Well without a grounding plate...

1) remove plastic cover on right side of genny.
2) remove red protective covering off of the genny mainboard underneath that cover.
3) place it on the sega CD and slide into the slot nice and snug.
4) Plug in and play...

really easy. without the plate though the pins may not be lined up properly. slide it forward and backewards.

There isn't much to it. Plug the RF or AV cord into your genesis. Plug the AC adaptor into your genesis. Plug the ac adaptor into the SEGA CD. Insert the cartridge like connector on the right side of the genesis into the slot on the left side of the sega CD. Put a CD in and turn it on.

Never mind Just read the above post.

I have tried to move the connection around without any luck. I might have gotten a broken one and got scammed. The Ebay description says that it works and that is an act of incompetence if it does not work.

Does the light on the Sega CD work at all?
and are you sure that the AC adaptor for the Sega CD is working?
To check leave it plugged in for a while. The Sega doesn't have to be turned on or anything. If the AC adaptor is noticeably warmer then its probably working. If its still cold after 15 to 30 minutes then chances are its broken.

My Sega CD is now considered broken. No light comes on, everything is hooked up properly, I have a working AC adaptor from a Genesis 1, I put the AC adapter for the Genesis and the Sega CD in for 30 minutes, and nothing happened. All I got was a blank screen. I guess I will have to report a nonworking item that says that it works on Ebay.

Ask the seller how they hooked up their machine. If it was sold as working, then they should offer some help.

I guess that it is back to the old drawing board for me. The seller claims that it worked, but it does not. I guess I will have to take it back to the seller and get another one. I don't know how much it will be, but it is the only way to get a Sega CD system. :(
