I finished RE4 a few days ago and then I completed Seperate ways and Mercenaries. Got all the characters for mercenaries (Albert Wesker kinda sucks but wateva) and being Krausers amazing and the guy on the water level with the double chainsaw gives me nightmares. Way crazier than the normal chainsaw dude in the villiage. The Seperate Ways mini-game with Ada Wong was entertaining and answered a lot of questions about the plot. Capcom is good at weaving the stories around its characters while bringing them to life with their own individual personalities. I've seen the trailers for RE5 but it really looks like a rehash of RE4 but with different characters. I wasnt really impressed....
What do you think?
Also did you like RE4 or any of the other RE's?

RE4 is awesome, one of the greatest games ever made. I couldn't stand any of the previous games, with the crap controls and slow pacing. Given that they really milked the original gameplay style with tons of sequels, its not too surprising that RE5 is going to be a lot like RE4, but thats hardly a bad thing. They seem to be adding some new ideas and things though, like temporary near blindness when you come out from a dark area into bright sunlight. And with better hardware the game should be even prettier, or should that be uglier, and have an even greater number of enemies after you at a time. I expect it will be the game that will force me into getting a 360 or PS3!

I haven't got round to finishing RE4 yet, it's on my to do list though.
I've always been a fan of the series, i too will probably go current gen when the next game comes out, might even be able to pick up a limited edition console release ;).

Yea, I also noticed that they used in RE4 the QTE from Shemue I-II and other games have adopted the over the shoulder aiming view instead of the usual third person. Its really has made a dramatic impact in the gaming world.
I think Gears of War, Fallout 3, and Gunplay have the same kind of player view.

RE 4 was nice, but sadly no match for previous intallments. The story was just too stupid, and the adventurel-elements too little.
I think going the same direction with 5 as with 4 is a bad choice for atmosphere and puzzles; it will end up an action-game again.
part 1 was good the rest more of the same
but part 4 played it on the gamecube
damn really good espescially when youre in the vilage hiding in behind the door and the saw the door in pieces or they came through the window
damn really awesome

Resident Evil 4 was awesome and one of the greatest gaming experiences I can recall.
The only thing that annoyed me was that it wasn't Resident Evil in the same was the other games have been. There were no Zombies and I wasn't overly impressed with the concept of having to find money to buy items.
In spite of those it was pretty much a non-stop romp of utter awesome from start until finish. Some of the boss fights were legendary, however, I did find the final boss a bit easy.
I am looking forward to Resident Evil 5.

Resident evil 4 is no resi game. It should have been called Mad villagers killing or so, but its no resident evil. Part 2 and code veronica were the best ones and as long as capcom doesnt go back to zombies and classic settings the future epsiodes will just be good action games but no resis. Man how i wish i could try the resi 2 beta they have at the playstationmuseum.

I agree, The only thing that was frightening in the whole game was the dam chainsaw dudes. In previous installments (1,2,3,Code Veronica) they were scary and disturbing, now it turned into a kind of a Lethal Weapon + Die Hard with enraged spainish farmers.......and who the hell was that guy selling you all the weapons??!!? "What are ya buying Stranga?, What are ya Selling? , I'll buy that at a High Price!"
