View Full Version : Mansion of Hidden Souls
There isn't much to say about FMV games, except that a few were halfway decent. Among all the standard "press here and watch what happens" titles, one stood out as an interesting use of the medium. Mansion of Hidden Souls showed that there was some merit to the technology, and it set the stage for later CG adventures like D and Enemy Zero. We have a full report (http://www.sega-16.com/review_page.php?id=1134&title=Mansion%20of%20Hidden%20Souls) on it, just for you!

How different is the Saturn version and this? I have the Saturn version and it's OK at best.
The Sega CD game is much, much superior. It's longer, more involved, has a better story, and just a better game overall. The Saturn one felt so rushed to me.

I always thought it was just a port.
Played it. The graphical limitations make it very difficult to tolerate.
Interesting tidbit: Apparently, this and the Saturn version were developed by System Sacom. They also did Lunacy on the Saturn and Saturn Gale Racer.

Lunacy is a great game.
Lunacy rocked, but the Saturn MoHS was a turd.
Hmm, I'll have to find Lunacy again. I never did get around to beating it.

I found it somewhat interesting how they tied MoHS and Lunacy together. In MoHS, all the hidden souls in the mansion are butterflies. In Lunacy, Anthony collects butterflies, which he says have the reincarnated souls of people.

...and Gale Racer was a good saturn port.

I loved "D" I think I rented it on 3DO when it came out and I just loved it! I remember by buddy who had a SegaCD kept talking about "Mansion of Hidden Souls" he hyped it up so much I thought it was like Resident Evil at the time. I didn't realize it was just a FMV point and clicker. Still might be worth checking out as I like some of these games like I said.
