So I picked up an "HD" Model 1 with hookups and controller in good shape for $12.50 today! I figured I would pick it up because I had a feeling it was old even for an HD model because the controller it came with had the red letters in it. I got home a fired it up and sure enough it went right to the SEEEEGGGAA!!! screen on Sonic!
