Wow. I never knew about his little gem. This game looks awesome and the fact that it's from Data East is great too :D Love the graphics, music, and style. What regions was this released for?

It was released in North America at the very least.
Personally, I thought it was a rather average platformer to play with. However, I did enjoy the art and music, very much reminiscent of Dashin' Desperadoes. Data East was an underrated developer on the system.
i searched very long to get this one compleet but when i finally found it
i didn t like it that much to easy and much of the same

It was released in Europe by Codemasters (in their own cart and case style) but its just called 'Havoc', theres two totally different cover variations for it too. It is defintily one of the better platformers for the MD.
It was also released in Japan as Captain Lang

I liked this game, but the music can be really irritating at times.

I always liked the "Mode-7"-ish clouds in the title screen. Pretty neat.

I like this game, it is on my list to finish (one day).
Fun Fact: This game has no region code. If you put it in a Japanese system (or switch to JP) it will show up as "Captain Havoc".
I remember getting "Captain Lang" in EU setting, "High Seas Havoc" in US, not tried JP setting, nor the JP with 50Hz setting.

Very nice game. Usually underrated in my opinion.

This falls in line with the wanna be sonics. Socket, Rocket, and High sea havoc are all pretty cool games that are good for some nice clean fun. If you had to rate them they would be "E" for everyone.
Prerequisites for games like this are:
1. Anthropomorphic main Character
2. Side scroller or recently third person (Rachet and Clank)
3. Bright Colors
4. A lot of jumping.
5. Cartoony like evil archnemesis.

I was just about to say a similar thing.
This looks like poor man's Sparkster.

The fact that you slash your sword makes it less "sonic-ish" to me. Plus the art direction looks like something other than Sonic.
Been keeping an eye out for this one at the used stores.

Every platform game HAS to be labelled as either a Sonic or Mario clone (even the platform games that pre-date mario and sonic), its the law.
I wonder what game clones Mario and Sonic are... ?

Pfft, Pac-Land is just a B.C.'s Quest for Tires clone.

I agree thats the big difference, instead of a Mario Bros. like gameplay it turned into a mix of that and a beat em up.

crapscreemer you will pay for dissin anything pac
besides bc quest for tires is just a smurf rip off and if you think about it is just a moon patrol ripoff
and wolfenstein3d is just a 3d pac-man ripoff so everyhting sprung from wolfensten3d is a pac rip
ps high seas havoc is a really super looking and playing game i just wish it had a health bar instead of one hit death

I'm not a big fan of all this "sonic clone" or "mario clone" talk, everything takes from something else, more like a slow evolution than anything else. It reminds me of those idiots on Youtube who constantly post on any video review that has a negative tone and say that the maker is ripping off the angry videogame nerd, I mean seriously?!?! half the people I know speak like that guy naturally when they're playing a game that pisses them off, it's not like it was an original idea or anything in the first place.

So it's another internationally-renamed title? >:[
It still looks like a very colourful game. This is going on the 'to buy' list :)
