1 high definition model 1 Genesis
1 RF cable
1 A/C adapter
1 red button 3 button controller
1 white button 3 button controller

$20

owning what may be the best condition existing example of a high definition Sega Genesis (spare for overpriced NIB systems on eBay)

Priceless

Every single connection is super clean and super tight, it makes me wonder if the thing has even been played before.

A real Genesis fan would ONLY have the volume all the way up.

I think you need to ban yourself.

It has done so at my place... my MD1 sees much less use. If I'd bother to add headphone possibility to my MD2, there will really be no reason for MD1, except for the looks.... I want MD1 VA7... MD2 inside MD1 shell .......

This Genny looks great... RF cables should all be burned though

thanks for reminding me, actually, I was going to do a photoshop and make "10" "11" so my speakers can go up to 11 (Spīnal Tap FTW). I would do it for real if this thing wasn't so amazingly perfect that it would be a criminal act.

I'm using RF for now until I decide whether or not to buy the official Sega cables or just get the generic ones they sell on eBay. I mean, a cable is a cable, its just a matter of how original I want to keep it. I also kind of want to have the authentic ~1990 (its a TMSS model) experience because, well, no one used A/V back then. Even with RF the picture is still stunning and hearing the sound on my dad's old stereo headphones (as seen in the picture) is mind blowing. Seriously, if you have a model 1 and don't plug in some headphones every once in a while you are doing yourself a big disservice.

P.S. about the A/V cables, I know I can use the headphone jack to give stereo sound output (something most Genesis A/V cables lack), so is there something I could buy for cheap to be video only? I ask this because somehow or another there is a cable at the Play N Trade I work for that is just a male/male yellow video cable with an adapter at the end that works on a Genesis model 2, which leads me to believe its just something you could buy at Radio Shack.

P.P.S. If anyone around here edits Wikipedia, feel free to use this image on the Genesis wiki for an example of a High Definition model

Yeah, but yours is audio modded, not (only) region modded (as that's what I think Melf meant).

then you should see my NES, SNES, PS2, XBOX, Dreamcast, Laserdisc player, FC Twin, the non-metal scraped parts of my Sega CD, 32X, Wii, every computer I've ever had, all of my controllers, etc. etc. The only stuff that ever got beat up was handhelds, and that usually wasn't my fault (in many cases because they were acquired used, especially the PSP, its gotta be pretty messed up for the UMD not to work, but for $45 and 100% functionality, its good enough for me). I'm not kidding when I say I probably clean my used purchases more thoroughly than just about anyone out there.

I'm very lazy with my consoles myself. And most of my genesis equipment is used, with the exception of my Genesis 3 which, upon closer inspection, is in pretty good shape and would polish up nicely.

My games tend to stay in the condition I received them, so if I got them in great shape (or new), they stay that way. I treat my stuff nice, but am not very anal about cleaning them. Poor neglected Genny...

Were all of your systems purchased NIB?

Many of them were, but the XBOX, Dreamcast, Sega CD, 32X, Laserdisc player, and both Genesis...isisisis were not. I'm also very picky when buying video game systems since those will have problems long before the games will. No use buying a worn out system when you can buy a much better one 2 weeks later at the same price. Of course there will always be those scratches you just can't get rid of, but most used systems just need to be cleaned to look like new.

Probably no one's going to listen to me when I say this, but when I first heard the Genesis with A/V cables, I thought something was wrong with the sound! I didn't like it as much. I was very used to the somewhat muddier and deeper (?) sound of RF. To this day I'm not quite sure which I like more, but I keep it plugged into A/V because of the superior picture quality. (It's plenty good to me, and I doubt I would like it with component or s-video or RGB or whatever).

Seriously, if you have a model 1 and don't plug in some headphones every once in a while you are doing yourself a big disservice.
Totally agreed! The Genesis sounds so much better that way and it's a shame the thing didn't originally output in stereo.

Prior to you or me re-uploading it, it should be re-released under the GNU Free Documentation License plus the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 (I wasn't even aware that Wikipedia switched to Creative Commons now).

Other restrictions such as your previous remark that you would allow non-commercial use for FAQs aren't helpful as they do imply that you did not read the GFDL (which allows free commercial and non-commerical use of your work).

That is correct. Imagine 5 billion contributors suddenly claiming royality fees for their contribution, either from WP or whoever does a print run of its content.

It's not as complicated as it seems though: You just upload the picture and say that you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License plus the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0.

That's all.

(wouldn't hurt to read the licenses before uploading though)

hmm, guess i won't have to look up that RF cable then, because i played some Duke3D on my NEO cart last night and its just horrible to look at.
I mean why not use normal looking sprites and art, its not like the stuff in Duke3D had complex color use.

But the entire game is a bad effort, it even shows directly on the title screen,
I could have made that title screen look so much better, its like they just converted the static image directly with mspaint.

I plan on taking sexy money shot pictures of all of my consoles before they go into storage (they all literally look this good) so all of the wikipedia pages can have a pretty picture.
