I just bought two new 32X games this week and I wanted to know your guys' opinions on them. One of them I am sure you will adore and I dont know about the other one.

Virtua Fighter
Shadow Squadron (thanks to Kollision

Both are CIB, but SS' box is faded.

That brings my collection up around 10 somewhere and I feel that I have pretty much half of the realistic library. I am not going to shell out the $$ for darxide or spiderman.

I'm new to the 32x...in fact, I'm so new, I just bought my first batch of games and I still don't own a 32x, but eBay is looking promising for some complete, NIB 32x systems.

Anyway, I thought I did pretty good, but since I'm new to the 32x, I will let all of you 32x owners decide for yourself:

Cartridge Only:

Doom
Motocross Championship
Toughman Contest
Virtua Fighter
Virtua Racing Deluxe

Complete In Box:

Golf Magazine: 36 Great Holes Starring Fred Couples
Metal Head
Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure
Star Wars Arcade

All together, with tax, I paid less than $32.00. Of course, it's not likely I will find the remaining titles in that same store and will eventually cough up some pretty good money for these games one at a time.

Anyway, it's a good start (practically 1/4 of the entire 32x library in one shot) and I will be looking forward to the dilemma of connecting the adaptors on the same powerstrip in the near future ;)

I have all but 3 of the US releases (Night Trap, WSB Starring Dieon Sanders, and Spiderman).

I am not much into fighters and likely won't put any serious time into Virtua Fighter. I have played some Shadow Squadron and it seems like a decent space shooter. Most gamers prefer it to Star Wars arcade. Some day I will put some real time into it.

Doom - My first time playing Doom was on the 32x so I didn't know the music wasn't up to snuff. The frame rate is smooth and so are the controls. Solid 32x title.

Motocross Championship - I think I am one of the few to like this game. If you like racing games, you will enjoy it.

Virtua Racing Deluxe - This game is PHENOMENAL! Silky smooth graphics and controls. This is my favorite 32x title by a mile.

Golf - I played through a few holes. I don't care for sports game but this is actually very easy to play. This is another title that I will put some time into in the future. The lack of music makes it a bit bland though.

Metal Head - Boring.

Pitfall - The background is jerky and the levels are confusing. I never really understand why people enjoy this so much.

@Homer Welcome to the 32x! The system is really a lot better than people give it credit for. I would also recommend tracking down Knuckles Chaotix.

I'm not sure if it is the economy, but there are about twice as many 32x items on eBay than there were last summer and now is the time to score some great prices.

Those are easily the cream of the crop for the 32X.

It's just too bad Sega never stuck with anything the way they did with the Master System and the Genesis/Mega Drive. I also never realized there were so few 32x machines sold (somewhere around 200,000) which means even though the system wasn't popular, the smaller number of systems sold makes this equally challenging to collect the entire library depending on who is willing to part with their stuff.

Anyway, I'm most partial to FPS games, so Doom was a no-brainer for me. I also like 2D platform games and will definitely be looking for Knuckles Chaotix.

Thanks for welcoming to the gang!

I think there must have been a lot of surplus stock sold a later date, as the numbers I've seen (that go with the 200,000 sold) shows 500,000 units produced for the NA market alone.
There seems to have been similar issuse with numbers for the Atari Jaguar (most sales numbers seem to show arround 150,000 for most of its life cycle though at least 250,000 were produced, probably a fair bit more)
So I'm thinking these are numbers for when the consoles were on the market, and not in clearance or struck from stock after being officially discontinued.

I didn't even know there was a Spiderman game for 32x. Is that like one of those rumored PAL 32x games that are so rare people don't even know they exist?

No, it was US only.

I have MK II and Virtua Racing Deluxe, but not Afterburner. I want Afterburner and Space Harrier now, but money is tight until the Amusement park opens.

I have it... considered somewhat of a holy grail of gaming. Never realized how rare it was until years later.

From the DP Guide - "There are rumored to be only 1500 of this game ever produced. It's a vertical and horizontal beat'em up with lots of swinging around and punching. Not particularly great but not bad, either."

I'd say it's worth it if you pick it up cheap, but the only way that would happen is if you found it at a garage sale. Goes for over $100 complete.

Shinobiman are you going to do us a favor and write a review for this diamond in the rough?

Do it. Do a different review first so you are warmed up for it.

Certainly. I would love to contribute to this wonderful site. As you suggested I'll do a different review before tackling the Spider-Man: Web Of Fire review.

Seems as though Sega 16 has covered a majority of the games. Is there a list of reviews that have not yet been written?
