Sonic Rush is great! Just picked it up today, I love how it plays, kinda reminds me of nights.

I just got this game. I really like it. Reminds me of sonic on the Genny.

I hate it.

I thought it was pretty decent, its no Sonic 3 and Knuckles, but it has a pretty good sound track (Some of the tracks though... ugh).

Main disappointment was the over-neediness to use the boost feature and the death pits.

'Eh. I've played through this. It's better than most of the Advance games, but still didn't really feel like a lot of fun. It would be more tolerable if it wasn't for the terrible story/dialogue between levels, and aforementioned pits of frustrating death.

Also, the boss battles were always one of my least favourite elements of the newer Sonic games I've played - time consuming and tedious - and I found it very annoying they carried that over (to some extent) to the DS game.

Probably the closest to a new "proper" Sonic game there's ever likely to be, though. Sigh.

I tried it for a few minutes after I bought it for my little cousin for his birthday, then realized the game is simply zipping through the levels at top-speed, not a very good game IMO.

Mediocre at best. Frustratingly dull at worst. Pass.

At first I completely hated this game, but once I got used to the controls...well, I just found it to be a mediocre racing game with sonic thrown in for good measure.

The bosses, especially the end boss, are the most frustrating, annoying thing I have ever seen on the DS. Sonic Advance 2 pissed me off with its irritating bosses, but this game takes the cake.

The graphics are pretty, but the music is intolerable. An alright platformer with a lot of problems, and a piss-poor Sonic game...not that you'd notice anymore, since ALL of his games are bad.

I am with most people here... too fustrating and the music is strange. The boost thing is not a good addition. Spindash is better, and it makes both speed shoes and special star stuff pointless.

Does anyone here think that sonic team even has it in them to make a good sonic game anymore? How hard can it be to make a completely 2D one in the tradition of the genny games? They couldn't be more out of touch with what the consumer wants. They must be high when they come up with the ideas for their new games.

Sonic Team does not make the handheld games, it is out sourced.

Personally I don't think Sonic Team has it in them to make any competent games anymore. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams was an abomination in every sense of the word.

I will fight to the death anyone who didn't like Hideki Naganuma's soundtrack. Bare handed.

Having the action switch between the two screens on the go - and at Sonic speed, at that - is one of those things that shouldn't work ... but it does, very well. The developers did a great job.

Would you have been more satisfied if Dimps stamped sonic3k.bin and a generic emulator onto a cartridge and sold it to you?

Yes, because.

1. The emulator would actually be able to play Sonic 3 and Knuckles (jEnesisDS has a 3mb limitation).
2. I'd assume they'd actually render everything correctly (Have you tried versing Robotnik in Lava Reef Zone as Sonic on jEnesisDS? No? Well, have fun with your deformed backgrounds. Vectormans first boss also suffers).

The best thing about it is the music.

Jet Set Radiooooo
(Not really, but same composer. Hideki Naganuma.)

I like Sonic Rush, although I know opinions of the game are mixed. I think Sega has done a good job with all the 2d Sonic games (regardless of who has developed them). Sonic for the NGPC, Sonic 1-3 for the GBA, and the Sonic Rush games are all good platformers. Are they as good as or better than the Genesis games? No. But they're new, they're fun, and I don't see why any Sonic fan wouldn't be happy to have new Sonic games to play.

Edit: That said, I think they're 3d iterations are garbage.

Yes, because then it would have been worth playing.

Why do you insist on playing new Sonic releases anyway man. The dream is over let it die. Don't be one of these manchildren, all playing Sonic Rush Adventure 5 and watching Sonic X on the FoxBox. It's bad for you.

...That would be cool, yes. But Sonic Rush isn't Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and it doesn't try to be (well, Sonic 3 has Marble Garden, Sonic Rush has death-pits out of nowhere...); you run fast through pretty levels to a electro-hiphop-whatever soundtrack and it's fun despite its flaws.

jEnesisDS' output looks peculiar - all the colours seem 'turned to 11', and the resolution's slightly off. I've gotten more mileage out of PicoDrive for the PSP and its Mega-CD support ;)

I did hate Sonic Rush when I first played it since it was rather difficult with an stupidly irritating first boss and bottomless pits spammed everywhere. Also, the Dead Line boss battle had a heavy button mashing section, and I despise those. I finally liked it and got used to it after playing through as Blaze since she made it easier with her higher jumping and 'flame-jet-hover' ability even if she was a little slower than Sonic (not enough for me to really notice unless trying to beat times).

Neat music and good special stages too. :) I think Rush Adventure was a marked improvement, though.

Is any of the original Sonic Team staff still there?

Thats because you have the scaling turned on and that it is because of the way the DS's screens work.

If you are using a DS phat, its going to meld in a bit (And in my opinion, looks awesome:cool:) but be a bit dim, the DSi and DS lite are just going to blast your eyes with brightness, and over saturate the colours a bit.

Basically, it varies from DS to DS.

Foxbox doesn't exist anymore Jerry.

And I wouldn't group Sonic Pocket Adventure within the newer Sonic Handheld games, that's more akin to the 8-bit Sonic games IMO.

The only thing I didn't like in Sonic Rush were the auto-scrolling segments (like the one where you're on a rolling platform and the rocks fall down on you). They just ruin the pace of the game and feel very out of place. Everything else was great, although I would've liked the option to turn of his annoying voice.

Sonic Team is like the axe that's had three new shafts and four heads, can it still be called the 'original team'?

I think the original Sonic Team numbered in the single digits, Wikipedia says they were 27 tops as of 2007. Doesn't mention if it's the Japanese Sonic Team, the American 'Sonic Team', both combined, or what though.
