Sega has registered the name SHINOBI again for unspecified use. The patent describes various game devices which it usually does when Sega trademarks a title. This does indicate that a new SHINOBI title is on it's way to America and the west however. it could also be an arcade update.

Does Sega plan new Shinobi ?

28.11.05 - Sega seems to work on a part of the Shinobi series. Thus the enterprise let the label name Shinobi protect with the US patent office to 18.11.05.

A platform is not yet admits (Arcade, console, Handy, Handheld), whereby the description of entry points also on a ' Slot Machine ' for the play hall.

Key phrase "Slot Machine" -- it's probably just some pachi-slot thing.

I hope I'm wrong, though. Shinobi on Lindbergh would be sweet. Or DS, even!

A Shinobi Pachinko machine would make me a sad panda.

I want a 2D side scroller, with Joe Musashi, against NeoZeed, and I want it now!

It's an arcade game. Pachinko machines aren't popular for a western release and Sega has intention to release it in the west or they wouldn't have registered it in america.

arcades are practically dead nowadays.
To release a platformer in the arcades in this day and age wouldn't be smart.

I'm guessing it'll be a home/portable consumer product

So maybe it's an actual slot machine, like in casinos. Or one of those prize machines for arcades. It could be a lot of things, but the mention of "slot machine" leads me to believe it's not a game.

Like I said though, I hope I'm incorrect.

Of course, 'Slot Machine' could just be a translation error.

When a patent is filed for this media type, it covers all possible units in the spectrum. Which is why we saw 'console/handheld/arcade/multimedia/blah' listed as the media type back when the 'Gunstar Super Heroes' copyright was filed.

My sources indicated it's an arcade. Whether it's a platform remains to be seen but arcades are still popular in japan and asia and even in the west despite what some may think.Anyhow we will see.
