Recommended Genesis Basketball Games

I've never been into Basketball much but have been playing NBA Live '95 a lot recently. I know there are many Basketball games for the Genesis but i'd like to play another one or two.

Can anyone recommend one or two Basketball games, other than the NBA Live series that's easy to play?

Live is a big one, so you're good for the most part.

Coach K is the college version of Live, so it's the same thing, but I seem to play that more than Live.

Hang Time and NBA Jam keep most satisfied.

Pat Riley Basketball. One of the first best-selling Genesis sports games.....BEFORE Madden & EA's own basketball series.

NBA Jam T.E. is all you need. Although, I did like NBA Action. And Arch Rivals is alright.

So far I checked out the ROM for Pat Riley Basketball (which I didn't know existed). It's got that arcadish feel like Tecmo Super Bowl which is what i'm looking for. I'll check out Arch Rivals and NBA Jam tonight.

I always hated how Arch Rivals pauses after EVERY DAMN BASKET to show a cut scene you've already seen 12 times.

I've always liked this one too even though it is usually panned by most everyone else. Glad to see I'm not alone in liking it!

I do like NBA Jam T.E., I have the 32X version but I don't think that means a whole lot.

In the end, I'm much more a fan of football games than anything else.

I disagree, but I know I am in the minority that Pat Riley Basketball sucks big time.

But I like David Robinson's Supreme Court too. I might do a review of that one of these days.

Safe Bets: NBA Jam. NBA jam TE, College Slam, NBA Live, Any of the pre live EA Basketball games (Bulls v Blazers, Lakers v Celtics) are at least okay.

Theres a neat little one where you get to play Jordan v Bird one on one, but dont pay too much for that because the game play is limited to.. one on one.

Ones to avoid: Dick Vitale's Awesome Baby! Basketball, NCAA Final Final Four, Jammit, Double Dribble, NBA All Star Challenge.

You know, you could do a rundown of the available basketball games for the Genesis! That way I might find out the name of the first basketball game I played for the Genesis (I've looked up screenshots for all the games named so far, but I still can't find it :( )

Pat Riley Basketball is awesome, I also enjoyed David Robinson Supreme Court. I was really dissapointed in Double Dribble for the Genesis. It's nowhere near as good as the NES version, IMO. I bought it the first day it came out and still own it, but man was it a let-down.

I always liked NBA Jam, the only sports game (aside from Monkey Tennis, and similar :roll:) I've spent significant time playing - though I played the GG version more than the MD one.

You can't go wrong with NBA Jam if you like arcad-ish feel games ( Chris Mullen from Golden State is unstoppable). If you are looking for a true to life game, look no further than NBA action 95. I really liked how the AI was smart and forced you to make good decisions with the ball unlike the NBA Live games where it seemed a bit too easy to score.

NBA Showdown '94 seems to be often forgotten. it was an excellent b-ball game.

NBA Live are the best real life Basketball games on the Mega Drive in my opinion. It has plenty of options for a Mega Drive game, and also the graphics are great!

But my all time favorite Basketball game is College Slam. It is like NBA Jam TE with better graphics and that there is really addictive gameplay and the obvious lack of gravity that NBA Jam games have.
