The public outcry of support following our Dungeons & Dragons review was so big that we just had to review another obscure RPG. Well, actually there was no outcry, and we only have my penchant for playing games no one else does to blame. Oh man. Super Hydlide is probably my absolute least favorite Genesis RPG. It has some good ideas in it, but they are tragically executed and the game just plays like crap.

What exactly didn't you like? I thought it played well enough, especially once you got some decent equipment (like most RPGs). The hero could have moved a little faster though. He's too slow even with no armor, but I don't think it played that bad at all.

I just bought this game for 50 cents loose. This game is not as bad as I initially thought. I don't even like RPG's, but I found myself getting into this game more than I thought. I must just not like turn based RPG's like Final Fantasy or Phantasy Star. I think there is less interaction in turn based RPG's than there is in FMV games. The graphics in the game are bad for 1990 Genesis standards, but the gameplay is halfway decent. I might like Popful Mail, but not the Lunar games for the Sega CD as well. If you are looking for a bad Genesis game, you should try the likes of Awesome Possum, Batman Forever, Dark Castle, or Bubsy (The most uncool mascot in the history of gaming).

You must have some sort of fetish for death animations. Bubsy's main mechanic is to lure the player into cheap deaths to show off the (admittedly cool) death animations.

Everybody has their own opinions. I actually like FMV games. I am spending a lot of time right now on Double Switch. This game is insanity and I am on the rock hard act II. I might get the easier Night Trap and the library of 32X/CD games (Once I get that darn connector cable).

bubsy is soooh budget,it is really a hated title,if i sale it to the local gameshop in the city,then im not save anymore they hate that game they have names for it,probable they burned it and keep wishing they never see that title aggian,damn the character was so dull.

I enjoyed Super Hydlide for what it was worth. I beat it. Certainly could have played a bit smoother, but that music... oh man did it sound good, especially for its time.
