View Full Version : The Dreamcast still lives! Under Defeat added Dec. 29!
From GameFront:
Sega announced that Milestone's new shooter Radilgy will be available seperately or as a bundle with a Dreamcast. The set is exclusively on Sega Direct and costs Yen 10,000 (euro 70/USD 83). A calling card is attached in addition. Release date is Feb 16/06 in Japan.
and from Magic Box:
Dreamcast still lives! MileStone announced they will release a Dreamcast shooter Radilgy in Japan on February 16, 2006, for 10000 yen. The game will be sold at the Sega Direct online store in Japan.
More consoles and another shmup? Keep on keepin' on, DC! :ok:

Gamefront's pricing is incorrect. The bundle is 15,800 yen ($133), and the game is 6,090 yen. That bundle's still a pretty good price... if it turns out to be a special version of the console (ie with Rajirugi art on it), I'll definitely plunk down the money for it.

I've never owned a Dreamcast, but I might buy one of these. But first, does the dreamcast have any sort of region lockout.

Yeah, but I beleive a mod chip can get past that, plus the DC-X boot disc works with every import it seems.

Are these boot disks readily available, and will they work on these new models?

For all we know, these Dreamcasts may be old stock. Very old stock. :P
Some people say models after a certain date don't work with CD-R's or what not, but I've never seen one, nor heard of anyone having problems.

Late model DCs can't read CD-R's. This means that they can't play the bleem releases or use certain boot discs or homebrews. The DC-X boot disc is made in a special way that it reads as a GD-ROM so it's compatible with all units. You can buy one at Play-Asia.com.

Has a late model DC ever surfaced? I've never heard of one person owning one.

I dunno for sure. I've heard of people having to check their DC's manufacture date to make sure it can play cd-r's. It's not something I've really looked into that much myself.

It still it is old stock, abet not new.
First party refurbished stuff with a warrenty is OK. It has one, right?
Still, I had three refurbished monitors with no warrenty and they died within a few months. And they where refurbished by some company who's out of bussiness.
My Genesis and Sega CD are both refurbished by Sega, and I've owned them since 1996 without any trouble.
From what I've heard, these DCs are compiled from the leftover parts from when production was ceased. It looks like Sega is trying to empty their warehouses of all the material they have left.
Yet another shooter is coming to the DC! Damn, this little console simply will not die.
It's called Under Defeat, and it looks a lot to me like Zero Gunner 2. I'm especially excited because it's done by G Rev (Border Down), and will supposedly have standard and collector editions.
