Ya know...Sega-16 should really start opening up to the Sega Master. Open up an SMS forum, start doing some SMS reviews and features on the SMS, etc.

Anyway, my question is this: The American SMS is basically a Mark III, correct? The Mark III was backwards-compatible with earlier SG-1000 games. Now, because the SMS doesn't have region-coded games, and it's basically a Mark III, does that mean that SG-1000 games will work on an American Master System also?? Does anyone know or ever tried using SG-1000 games on an SMS??

Why? There's already:

http://www.smspower.org/

and

http://smstributes.co.uk/

Besides, it's Sega-16, not Sega-8 ;)

Same hardware, different cartridge pinout.

True...then how come the 32X is on here!?

The Genny has all the necessary hardward of a SMS inside, so I don't see why this site couldn't cover it. Or at least have a dedicated forum for it like the 32x and Sega CD.

Good question... perhaps out of pure pity? :D

LOL, poor 32X, I love it, I really do!!

Still though, I think adding a Master System section would be cool. If one argues that the 32X and Sega CD are add-ons to the Genesis and that's why they have their own sections...the SMS was in some ways, an add-on too by using a Power Base Converter. Therefore, I think Master System games should be covered as well!!

Well it wouldn't be out of place since the Genesis can run SMS games with a peripheral. However the SMS is a console unto itself, something the Sega CD and the 32X are not.

Yeah but still. It's Genesis-related, and it would be nice to have this site be the only place to be for everything Genesis-related. I've never contributed any reviews for games, but I'd be willing to start doing some SMS ones if this all sounds like a good idea.

The SMS isn't Genesis-related. It is unto itself. But like I said, it wouldn't be totally out of place.

The Power Base Converter is Genesis-related. Which makes the SMS Genesis-related, although it's not. LOL!

Yeah but the PBC isn't a console, it's a passthrough for SMS games - nothing more, nothing less.

Why not I love my Genesis but I still have my SMS and love some of the games for it. I love Double Dragon on it.

I vote nay for a Master System section. I love the Genesis, not the master system, and those two sites are good enough.

But, I am not against a few articles about the PBC if you guys want to do it.

There is a power base feature,

I have to agree with "The Sports Guy". I think the focus of the site should remain on the Genesis/MD and the dedicated SMS sites can focus on 8-bit titles.
