View Full Version : Crusader of Centy
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If that is true, then The Legend of Zelda must be beet-red right now. Atlus' Crusader of Centy is a direct homage to Nintendo's classic franchise, but with a few twists to avoid a lawsuit. It's still a great game, and we have a full review (http://www.sega-16.com/Crusader%20of%20Centy%20review.htm) to tell you why.

I wish the review had focused more on the game itself instead of its comparisons and differences with Zelda. Longer, too. >.>
Quality-of-writing wise, though, it was a good piece of work.
Anyone got $30+ to spot me to play this game j/k
Honestly, the review was interesting, though I would've liked more details. Definatley made me want to play the game.

I own it, and I like it dearly. The game is so refined and perfected! The graphics are great, and I think the story is one of its strongest points. Philosophy galore! ^_^
You might want to try before you buy, and your money might be better spent on one of the more famous RPGs on the system, but I'm not disappointed or regretful about my purchase.
Is $14.99 a good price for this game, cart only?
That's not bad at all, actually, if it's in good condition. You can always print out the manual and insert.

Exactly. I'd snap it up...
...in passing, where'd you find that? Not eBay, surely.
They sell it at gamecrazy for that price. It's been there for a couple months no one interested in it, until me that is. I guess I will buy it.

Go for it! And you might want to check out RPGClassics for a nice little shrine to get you started.

I got this game during the game crazy sale for $5. I just got it because it was a genesis rpg but I ended up liking it quite a bit. It's a good alternative to zelda for sega fans, as neutopia is a good one for nec fans. Neither one was original but both were fun. By the way, I also thought the review was well done. This is my number one place for sega reviews.
I finally got this game. At first I had a hard time to get it started the game froze during the intro. The battery still works this is good.
So far I don't see too much of resemblance to Zelda. The only things are like it are the apples instead of hearts and the main character. The rest looks different to me like the animals used and stuff. There are more villages to visit and people to talk to. It's more of an rpg than zelda.

You might try a q-tip with rubbing alcohol on the connectors. Fixes that freezing stuff right up. Credit card in the cart slot of the Genny, too.
I still need a copy of this game. :(

Thanks for the advice, I'm just used to blowing in the games and in the system to get them to play. Really on with Crusader has it frozen during that cool intro. Do I put alcohol on the card too? The connectors of the game?
This is a really good game, it's not that easy especially for playing it the first time. I got killed a coupled times with the traps and puzzles, not with the bosses though.

I don't think you're supposed to put alcohol on the credit card. Just insert it in and pull it out straight. Don't run it back and forth.
And keep cleaning the bit of circuit board you can see on the cart until you don't get black off anymore.
Blowing on carts damage them, from what I've heard. Speeds up oxidation, or something. =|
Well I finished Crusader of the Centy. My thoughts are it was a good game and the story is decent. It needed tougher bosses they were all just too easy once you findthe right way to defeat them. More enemies, mostly the same enemies keep coming back. I was hooked cause I wanted the game to last longer oh well. The ending was ok, at least it had one. I really don't desire playing this game in a long time not that much replay value.

OMG Why have I not heard of this game before? Jeeze even in 1994, I worked in a Babbages and don't remember this.
Anybody know any details regarding its release? Rarity? Sparse distribution?

Rarity is pretty high. Not something you find all over the place, and therefore it's going to cost you.

If you've got one to sell, I've got dibs!

Atlus is rather notorious even now for not distributing games very well.
-SkyGunner
-Disgaea
-Shin Megami Tensai: Nocturne
-Shin Megami Tensai: Digital Devil Saga
and other such games are barely marketed and usually dissapear quickly. . .leading to inflated prices.
bastards... Figures they'd be ones to torture people for fun.
How come Atlus doesn't distribute games well? who the heck is the publisher?

The one game Atlus did distribute all too well was that horrid travesty of a game known as Virtual Hydlide for Saturn.

I know they've done lots of great stuff, I'm just still pissed at Atlus USA because 9 years ago, they threw Virtual Hydlide all over the place while denying us Devil Summoner. :P
