I haven't even picked it up in years and now I can't get past the vertical logs on the 1st waterfall stage.

I'm pathetic.

Just gotta keep trying over and over again.

I'm also thinking the C button on my controller is beginning to wear out...

The timing on that double jump is a bitch. It is usually what makes turn off the game. Though it is one of my favs.

I know the first instincts when beginning an old game would be to blast right through it but I noticed that when I do that I get destroyed. Try it slow at first especially at the waterfall level. I almost broke a few controllers playing that level.

Revenge of Shinobi is so easy I beat it on hard and got the good ending. You just need to be cool like a ninja to handle it, that's all. It's damn obvious people who ruin their controllers won't be able to do it.

Yeah, this game requires a lot of patience to play well (and unlimited shurikens).

Just doublejump with Super-Jump no Jutsu and use the eight-shuriken-strike OR stand pixel-perfectly close to edge and time the somersault perfectly with the Lightning-shield no Jutsu.

The only time I have problems with the double jump is when I haven't played the games in a while. After five minutes with the game, I can pretty much pull off a double jump without any problems.

Double jump problems or no double jump problems. Finding it difficult or not finding it difficult. Batman and Godzilla or generic man-bat and skeleton dinosaur thing - all that aside there is no denying that this game is absolutely incredible.

Revenge of Shinobi = my favourite Shinobi game. (Well, with the exception of that mazey level, which thoroughly annoyed me the first time I played it :( )

I never saw what made this game so cool, but if you want a cheap cheat here it is:

Unlimited Shurikens: go to options, and where it says "number of shurikens" or something, leave it on 00 for a bit, I think it is five or ten seconds. It will turn into an infinity symbol.

I think it's worth anything less than $20, though anything from 12-20 is a little steep. I actually don't own this game, I only have it on 6-pak.

For my first try I managed to reach Stage 4-2. Not bad for my first go around with Shinobi.;)

Love this game. Best ninja game on the Genesis.

Back in the day I used to find this game so darn hard. For example, that double jump on the docks was infuriating. My god, that was so darn annoying, I imagine it's right up there in the hall of fame of annoying video game moments.

And the maze in the Neo Zeed lair. Damn, that was tough, too.

I just recently picked up Revenge of Shinobi and Shinobi III for my Genesis and was ashamed of myself for not getting them sooner. Every Sega / Genesis fan should at least have one of these shinobi games in their collection.

Shinobi III I like more because it's more fast-paced and Joe Musashi has more moves. And despite the lack of Yuzo Koshiro the score in SIII is more refined and energetic.

For me it's Revenge of Shinobi. I probably will never understand how anyone could possibly prefer Shinobi III but it's definitely an awesome, awesome game.
