Am I the only one who wants them on a plastic box? Keep in mind, I'm indifferent towards having boxes and manuals for Genesis games
Why are they missing on most boxes? You know, the plastic ones. I have a few Genesis game boxes and they are missing the tabs. WHY?!

Because people take them off. They're quite useless unless you want to hang them on the wall in your store. I equate the tabs with the same level of importance as the shrinkwrap... used only for display. I remove them mostly because they stick out like a cancerous tumor. It should also be noted that 99% of Japanese Mega Drive games don't even come with tabs on them when they are brand new.
As for boxes and manuals, I won't buy a game if it doesn't come with the box AND manual, both in good condition. The actual game cartridge should come with both of those as well. :)

The tabs can get quite annoying when you are trying to store a large amount of boxes with them still on. They take up a lot of space and serve no real purpose.

I love the tabs.
All my game cases still have em.

I agree with winona, as all my game cases still have them. As for Japanese MD games, the later releases actually have them.

Is that so? My Monster World IV came without a tab (bought from japan) and that game was released in 1994.

My Japanese Rocket Knight Adventures (<3) and OutRun games don't have tabs. I love them for that, it makes them look neater. However, the tags are useful for when you have a fairly narrow bookcase as storage - the tags give your fingers a little room to scrabble at the box to remove it.

I was referring to the late 1994-1995 period, with releases like Alien Soldier, Story of Thor, etc. The releases with the standard blue side bar on the front cover with the MEGA DRIVE logo. Those cases have the hanging tabs.

I got a little obsessive compulsive about the tabs once. My Gunstar Heroes case had the tab ripped off and I ended up transferring it to a case with the tab still on (How dare Gunstar not have a pristine case!). Not that my Gunstar Heroes is in mint condition itself as it's been through a lot of pain since I was a kid ;). At least the case looks nice.
They are inconvienent though but at least the plastic cases are infinately better than the cardboard SNES boxes and the late Genesis ones like Vectorman and Earthworm Jim which ended up getting ruined.

Aaah most of the EA games had tabs,Btw i didnt hate em" but since genesis is known for its simplisity to just garb a game and play yes some tabs cant be pushed on the cartridge so it would stick without storage space involving,i didnt care if those tabs where ript of only those really good games may have them in my uppinion but they have to be klapabel so they wouldnt bother you, anyways the sollectors valeu wil never be ruined just by storing the games which snes had as a problem the expensive and good titles for snes like DBZ HD could look fucked up after a few years carton bitch boxes.
