They day has finally come.......Rejoice brothers and sisters.....the ancients have smiled upon us yet again.....

Some good news for Sega Dreamcast collectors. Following the popularity and the positive feedback received from our Sega Genesis and Sega Satrurn rarity guides, and to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sega Dreamcast system, RarityGuide.com has released the Sega Dreamcast Rarity List and Price Guide. Thanks to all those who sent us their input into what you thought is rare, all comments were considered when creating the guide.

http://www.rarityguide.com/dreamcast_view.php

Please continue to send us feedback about the guide and the prices. Including negative feedback, if you think a price is totally off, let us know why. The amount of emails we receive daily force us to assign priority to support requests so we might not reply to all the emails, however rest assured that the editors go over all the comments you send and make adjustments to the prices and rarities if deemed necessary.

Happy gaming and collecting!

I don't think that guide is very accurate. Some games up in that bitch cost WAY more than I've seen them new and/or CIB during the dying days of the DC here in NYC, and even way afterwards. I'm talking common games like "Jet Grind Radio" and "Sonic Adventure", which I've never seen go higher than $10.

On the other hand, considering some of the DC games I have I could be sitting on quite a good amount of money.

This is how the guy who posted it is finding all the info.

Thanks for your feedback.

List is based on current research data and is constantly updated according to market trends. If you feel any values are too high or too low, feel free to send us an email or post in our forums and our editors will review it.

One thing to keep in mind is that this isn't an Ebay list. We get a lot of emails from people reporting that they saw a game for a lot higher (or a lot lower) on Ebay. Just because an item can sell lower (or higher) on Ebay doesn't always mean that it is the real value. See our FAQ on how we determine values and rarities.

I had no idea Project Justice was that hard to find. It's been on my shopping list for awhile but I haven't bothered to look for it yet.

Hmmm, I was hoping to see how rare Shenmue II, Rez, Fighting Vipers, Headhunter and Evil Twin are but it seems to be NTSC-U only :(

I can't believe that JoJo's Bizarre Adventures is worth $34 used. I'd bought that game for $5 at Best Buy and sold it about 2 years ago for maybe $8.

Fighting Vipers 2 isn't worth very much. I'd bought it for about $12 and sold it last year for about the same amount.

Project Justice isn't just the best 3D fighter on the DC, it's the best 3D fighter period.

And that makes me very happy I own it.
(That and Garou/Fatal Fury MotW)

Funny, Record of Lodoss War is only 72%, and Maken X isn't worth squat. :(

I bought most of my Dreamcast games when the system was new, so I've never actually looked at what games on the DC usually go for. This guide has surprised me with a couple of the games I have, like Bangai-Oh, Cannon Spike, Mars Matrix, MvC2, the Power Stones, Fatal Fury: MotW, and especially Project Justice.

One game I wasn't surprised to see so high in price (to me anyway) was Giga Wing 2. Even when that game was new I could never find it in stores, and eventually I gave up looking. Now I wish I didn't.

I like that game (but maybe that is because I am a fan of what it is based on), but I wished they left the minigames in like in the PS1 version (but the DC version is the better fighter). Were there any Capcom games that didn't have somewhat high prices on that list?

I've seen Giga Wing 2 for for $30 on a good day...

I got Jojo new at Best Buy for $5 at the end of 2001.

Some of those Capcom games I've gotten... a LOT Cheaper and some a lot more expensive. But what the fuck ever. I'm about to say I am done with Capcom games.

I'd defineatly skip over Spawn. It's such a horrible game at any price.

Lucky bastard. Mars Matrix cost me a bundle ($60) Brand new. Cannon Spike and Bangai-Oh are way to expensive for me. Consider yourself lucky. You have some really nice collector items.

What? I got Mars Matrix late last year for $25 shipped.... MINT!

God I hate One-Uppers.

What? There where a few other copies going for the SAME price... Not really one-upping you.

Capcom DC games fluctuate in prices. Sucks, but live with it.

Thanks. I never really expected DC games to really become collector's items (I don't know why, I guess it is just for a couple years after the system's demise I would always see tons of my favorite games in cheap game bins and it always sort of depressed me). I guess all that changed later on though.

Do DC Capcom games have low print runs or something? I figured they would have made enough copies since they were one of the more prominent DC supporters.

Cannon Spike was an early title for the DC, so it was pretty much gone within the first couple of years. Most DC collectors hold on to Cannon Spike, since it's an exclusive to the DC.

Cannon Spike was NOT early... I mean I paid $70 in the end, for the fucking game. And also, I mean a lot of Capcom games are not rare, just in demand.

You know I was thinking. If Sega wanted to do something nice for its fans on 9/9/09, they should just re-release some of the most rare and expensive DC games. Just to give a tip of the hat to all the DC lovers out there.

I had owned the game at one point and probably paid about $30 for the title. Cannon Spike was not a widely available title, especially compared to titles like GigaWing and Power Stone.

Capcom was notorious for having low-print runs for most of their games except for the big franchises (Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Mega Man and to a lesser extent Street Fighter) during the 32-Bit & Dreamcast era. ESPECIALLY on Saturn & Dreamcast. Their niche titles have always gotten low print runs.......just so happens that the DC was home to many of them.

Drat! I guess this means I'll never be able to snag the original PowerStone for a good price. Fortunately, I do own the PowerStone demo and PowerStone 2.

Man, I can't believe it's been nearly 10 years. Sonic will be 20 before you know it!

You people really need to quit taking eBay, and rarity guides as fact.

Powerstone can be found for $20... if not less even. It had a huge print run. Now, if you are talking about the Sega All Stars edition, than YES! it is going to be pretty damn rare, if not impossible to find.

Hell, RE 2 DC is rarer than Powerstone... quite a bit too. Trust me.

Powerstone 2 is the last Capcom DC game I want, and if I can find it for a good price, complete and mint... under $60 lemme know!

Good points! Also, "rarity" and "demand" do tend to fluctuate over time.

Ironic how the "Sega All-Stars" re-release of PS is rare, considering it was a budget-priced re-release. But yeah, PS had a healthy print run, with it being one of the games released in the DC's launch window.

I remember being utterly shocked when RE2 & RE3 were released on DC and suddenly popped up in store shelves. I never figured they'd be ported to DC. "Dino Crisis" too. Seeing as they are the best console ports of RE2 & RE3, the DC ports (along with the slightly lesser quality GC ports) do command a kinda high price.

PS2.......that has to be up there with MvC2 & Project Justice as the three rarest Capcom games on Dreamcast.

Power Stone 2 is like the last game I am after... for now anyway.

RE2 and 3 where budget releases, and just ports of the PC versions - just with everything locked. Same with Dino Crisis.

I read somewhere recently that only 500 copies of Last Hope were produced. Does anyone know if this is true?

Wow, Bangai-O is the second most rare game on that list? I remember grabbing a copy (okay, it's a PAL version, but still) off eBay not long ago with hardly any trouble, at nowhere near the price listed there.

It was just stupid when I got the game and it turned out not to support VGA cables. :?
(Off-topic: we really need a  smiley here)

David J.

Note that the list is a US one. The PAL version is VERY common, and yeah the game hates VGA. It throws a shit fit when my VGA box is even in S-video! :(
