Herzog Zwei is an RTS.
For a real challenge, try playing Forgotten Worlds with a Sega 6-button controller (on a real Genesis, not an emulator). The game goes into super-hard mode. It's so hard in this mode it'll be over before you know it! You haven't got a chance.

in Forgotten Worlds, is it possible to save your game or get pass words? is there much replay value to it?

M.U.S.H.A. is definately my favorite. It's worth every penny of its expense. Infact the entire Aleste series which this game is a part of is pretty fun. It's sequel Robo Aleste on the Sega CD loses some of the magic but it's still a spectacular shmup.

Ohhh, I'm all too familiar with that mode. For the longest while I thought either there was something wrong with the cartridge, or I was just the worst Forgotten Worlds player of all time.
My personal favourite Genesis shooters...

Gley Lancer
Forgotten Worlds

Lightening Force
M.U.S.H.A.

Thunderforce 3 (WAYYYYYYYYYYY too easy.)
Only Chuck Norris would have the balls to say that.
Not really. I once beat it on my second life, and that was only because the final boss killed my first guy. I suck big time at shmups, and if I could do it....

Of course, Chuck Norris' balls have withered away with the passage of time and are no longer the gold standard.
My first time ever playing Thunderforce III, I chose good ol' planet Haides. That level slaughtered me but good, mostly due to the unexpected crushing nature of the planet's bowels. ..but admittedly, the rest of the game's not too challenging.
Atomic Robo Kid ( YES ! i love it ! )
Haha, you belong to a very exclusive club, danielscheil.. :)

I beat Thunderforce 3 the first time I sat down with it.
It took about 40 minutes, but I still did it with less effort than I put into virtually all my other shmups..

TF 3 is much easyer than the other ones ( it thing this had something to do with the unbeatable TF 2 !)
but you can set it on hard or mania and you have the real challenge

Thunder Force 2 was easily beatable for me. I can usually do it without continuing. I loved that game.
Thunder Force 3 is still pretty easy even on Mania.
Thunder Force 4 is pretty hard even on Super Baby Easy Beginner.
Thunder Force 5 is downright impossible.

I tend to die very little on the overhead levels in Thunderforce 2.
It's quite simple if you can get yourself oriented.
charting your approach to your targets is what most may find problematic, as they tend to shoot just as they come on screen.

I agree, they're not very hard when you know where the bases are. The exceptions are those narrow passages filled with destructible 'stuff', and of course the last level is pretty much impossible. I've never beaten it legit.
I always hated that you can't adjust the speed though.

I can beat stage 3 (the 2nd overheard level in Thunder Force 2) in less than 30 seconds!

Upload your pictures onto the internet through a site like www.imageshack.us or www.photobucket.com. THEN you can post them in whatever forum you like.
As for shmups..
Man, Burning Force is a fairly mediocre game, but I can't stop playing it. Perhaps it has to do with the incredible smoothness compared to Space Harrier II.. I very much dig Space Harrier, but that choppiness is really distracting.

I had it,wasnt really impressed. The game had worse grphics and plays like aspace harier clone.Mather of taste some people could like it. :D ,BTW the size of the picture is to big and those sites and thing just piss me of because i cant understand it because its english, and some info i posted doesnt respond all strange stuff, why so hard to just poste a picture.Like a dutch sit you just can do Bladeren and search youre wanted picture and there it is.This is way to difficult.Maybe not but then i just dont get it,sorry but thanx. :DAs for schmups Musha and TF 4 etc.

I'll be buying myself a copy in a few weeks from a local pawn shop.. I happened to be in that particular store not long ago when some hopeless-looking individual was pawning off a bag of game stuff, and there it was. But of course, there's always that pawn shop waiting period.. whatever, it'll surely be dirt cheap.
May you be granted similar good fortune, Joe Redifer!

Pawn shops piss me off! Thrift stores can yield some nice finds, though.

My favorite Genesis shmup so far would have to be Grindstormer, followed by Lightening Force. I prefer the vertical variety, but Lightening Force is good enough that I like it despite it being horizontal. ;)

Wow. Talk about Wise Fwom Yo Gwave. But...
-=Best Shmup Overall=-
Thunder Force IV- The only flaw with this game, is the slowdown. Everything else is done wonderfully, from the graphics, to the gameplay, music and stages. It doesn't get better than this on the Genesis in my opinion.
