I'm pretty new here and I just want to say that I think sega-16 is a great site. However I was wondering if anyone has ever thought about adding game play videos to the reviews?

Most of the time that I read a review for a game I like I rush over to youtube to check it out. I just thought it would be a good idea to have a video right there with the review.

I think it'd be cool to do a thing like NESguide, but I certainly don't have the time for it. Once you get going on this site, the reviews and articles are the main parts to read anyways. There is a boat load of stuff on youtube. But if people want to get it started, im down.

Yeah, I think this would be a cool idea too, but it would really be a lot of work to get videos for all the games that have been reviewed.

Great idea.

I don't know if this goes against the admin's policies, but wouldn't it be nice to have a Sega-16 YouTube channel?

Some of us could contribute with gameplay videos.
I volunteer. ;)

I'm glad others find this to be a good idea. I too think a sega-16 youtube channel would be really cool.

Hope fully not like...a "Let's Play" channel...those are overdone.

Although simple footage of different games might allow for some people to get a better idea of what the games look and feel like.

I'd volunteer - though I don't have the biggest selection by any means. I do have a video camera and decent lighting.

I was just on nesguide.com and I think the video idea is really cool. I do really wish we could get it started here. Just gameplay videos, no commentary of any kind.

I'd be happy to record videos, but it'd be through Kega, I lack a device that will let me record from the source, plus I do not want to torture people with Composite.

And it shouldn't be like a Satakore first-level run; it should be a montage of clips from different levels and modes.

A montage would definately be the way to go. The whole idea of having these in play vids to go with reviews is great.... but making this happen will be a long road, a long glorious road!:D

You guys have to remember how much bandwith videos take up on a site, it would be a LOT to put up videos for every single review on this site, there's at least 200 or so.

AS for the Youtube channel, what's the point really? If they're that interested in the game, they may as well just type in the game name into Youtube and Google and find footage, easy as that.

Pictures do the job pretty well IMO, videos are just too complicated and really just a waste of time to film and upload whatnot. And then there's the bandwith costs...

Actually, we'll be hitting 600 reviews by July. :D

As it is, it would be quite difficult to implement this in each individual review without overhauling the entire template. I think the best way to do this would be to start a Sega-16 YouTube channel. We could then add the field to the master list entries so that a page would appear there for each specific game. We can also embed the videos in the forum threads.

This is much better than that Twitter idea.

A sega-16 youtube channel would be useful.

Shameless Plug Alert: :ok:
I've nearly finished a DVD of the 2008 European Mega Drive Championship, which features "live" gameplay. The previews are well worth watching:

DVD preview games 10 - 12 (http://www.megadrivechamps.org/EMDCDVD10.rar)

Whats funny is most of the videos i watch on youtube all lead back here.

What would be great is more modification videos for the Genesis. Like the alecjahn and m2nbird ( spelling?) ones on youtube. I go on youtube everyday and do a "newest" search for Sega genesis. Mad videos of jeoprodary been coming up lately though! :(

Anyways, those videos are extremely helpful and got me through my region/stereo/ composite mods. I just wish someone would do a video of the S-video mod! can't find one ANYWHERE and a video would be so much easier than trying to decipher blurry pictures/descriptions on various websites.

agreed. I'm sick of playing my games on composite and rf.
