From Magic Box:

Sega announced a number of new Sega AGES titles for PlayStation 2 in the latest issue of Famitsu.

* Sega AGES 2500 Series: Sega Memorial Selection (Head On, Tranquilizer Gun, DokiDoki Penguin Land)
* Sega AGES 2500 Series: Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box (Gunstar Heroes, Dynamites Headdy, Alien Soldier)
* Sega AGES 2500 Series: Advanced Daisenryaku
* Sega AGES 2500 Series: Panzer Dragoon
* Sega AGES 2500 Series: Dynamite Deka (Dynamite Cop)
* Sega AGES 2500 Series: Galaxy Force 2

But that's not all!

Sega will release two new Sega AGES titles for PS2 in Japan on September 29:

* Sega AGES 2500 Series Vol. 20: Space Harrier Complete Collection - contains arcade, Mega Drive and Master System versions of Space Harrier.
* Sega AGES 2500 Series Vol. 21: SDI & Quartet - Sega System 16 Collection - contains arcade version of SDI and Quartet, support to 4 players simultaneously

This is awesome! Maybe Sega will bundle them and release them over here, like they did with the Classics Collection. Either way, I'm glad to see lots of Genny love lately. Look at this list:

- Space Harrier II
- Gunstar Heroes
- Alien Soldier
- Dynamite Headdy
- Galaxy Force II

Yes! Respect The Genny's authoritah!

These are just re-releases, and not remakes, right? Cause remakes for Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier, and Dynamite Headdy for a stationary console just sounds too good to be true.

I thought all the Sega Ages were remakes, right?

But yeah, it seems reeeeally unlikely they're remaking those titles.

I'd definately trade a handful of my most precious coins for the Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box and Space Harrier Complete Collection. Hopefully the brilliant thing is done and these are all bundled together for a godly North American and European release.

* Sega AGES 2500 Series: Sega Memorial Selection (Head On, Tranquilizer Gun, DokiDoki Penguin Land)

Tranquilizer Gun... hahaha.. that's a unique moment to dredge up from Sega's history.

From The Magic Box:

"Sega announced that Treasure will take over the development of its Sega AGES title Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box, the game features remake of 3 classes titles, including Gunstar Heroes, Dynamites Headdy and Alien Soldier."

Sweet. Maybe they'll be re-worked in the same way Bangai-O was when they "ported" it to Dreamcast.

I think Tranq Gun was the classic/decaying DigDug-esque arcade game they included as a minigame in the US version of Dynamite Dekka 2 (known here as dynamite cop).

But are these full-fledged remakes or simply ports?

I need some screen shots!

They will be ports from now on. Sega wasn't happy with the remakes and decided to redo Sega Ages as a budget re release, series rather than a remake collection.

I just got the Sega Ages 2500 series Space Harrier and SDI/Quartet for my PS2 yesterday. Both of these titles support progressive scan so if you got a tv that supports progressive scan, they look great!!! All Space Harrier games play great but not without some PS2 emulation problems. The arcade Space Harrier has a little bit of slowdown that is noticeable during some of the boss battles, which pisses me off because the Saturn and DC versions ran great. Other than that, it's plays just fine. In the MarkIII/SMS version of Space Harrier, the sound emulation is good but extremely low in volume (still plays great though). Space Harrier 3D plays exactly like the SMS/Mark III version. To play in 3D though, you have to construct your own red/blue glasses out of a milk carton with the included pattern and red/blue lenses. The music/sound effects are also extremely low in volume too. Also there's an option for an "FM Pack". I'm assuming this was a feature for the Mark III because the music sounds a heck of a lot better with this option enabled. Finally, the Mega Drive/Genesis (my favorite game in this collection) Space Harrier II also took a hit in the sound department. The music/sound effects are low in volume again and are very twangy in sound, but the game play is perfect. I highly recommend picking it up if you have a modded or Japanese PS2. I haven't touched the SDI/Quartet disc yet so I'll update.

Yeah, but that's a SMALL number of games for that specific classics collection.

It seems that when emulating older games, the audio almost always is not emulated perfectly.
