Had the day off today and hit two local retro gaming stores. Since I've gotten back into my old systems the past year I've only really paid money for SNES and NES games, and just sort of waited to find Genesis games at thrifts or yard sales. Today was my first day of spending some "serious" dough on Genesis games. All with boxes, most with instructions.

Rambo III for $1.95 - I never played this. Awesome

Alien III for $4.00 - Always wanted it. Another awesome game

Sonic 3 for $13.00 - (most I've ever payed for a Genesis game) I never owned this as kid, I haven't given a chance yet.

X-Men 2 $3.00 - I didn't own this one, but I loved the 1st one so we'll see how this one is

Bill Wash College Football 99 cents - (already own cart, but wanted the box anyone want a free cart? PM ME)

Jurassic Park - $3.95 Always rented it as a kid. I just bought Jurassic Park for SNES and thought maybe the SNES version would be better... uh uh. This version kicks ass! I forgot how good this one was.

Ecco the Dolphin $4.00 - another one I always wanted as a kid but it was never one of my must have.

Skittchin' - $4.00 - Haven't tried it out yet.

If I was to buy this many "good" SNES games it woulda cost me twice, maybe three times as much money I spent today.

Paid too much for Sonic 3. TOO MUCH. You could've gotten the "Sonic Mega Collection Plus" with that amount of money! Return it, like right NOW! You don't even know if the game's save battery is dead like it was with my last copy of Sonic 3 years ago. It has been 15 years since the game's been released you know.

At least the other games are Genesis exclusives.

You paid too much for Sonic 3. That's at most like a $3 or 4 dollar game.

That's the going price for them "buy it now" on ebay. Plus shipping would make it even more than what I paid.

And you still have to buy/own "Sonic & Knuckles"........you are going to do that, right?

If not, then prepare to open the floodgates of hell here at Sega-16. :D

About $9 shipped is a good Sonic 3 price

There is no save battery in Sonic 3, its a weird save type called FRAM and doesn't have a power source of any kind, I believe its somewhat flash based. If yours went bad, you traumatized your cart.

Are you sure it's FRAM? That should refer to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferroelectric_RAM (also FeRAM) A type of nonvolitile RAM, not flash memory. (which is more akin to EEPROM)

That would seem a very early application, as it was still experimental in the early 1990's, and is still pretty new now.

Refer to the great battery saves thread in the tech aid section, there you will find your answers.

Wow 17days didn't over react and rip me a new a-hole for spending 13 bucks on Sonic 3. :)
I still don't think it was that bad of a deal if they are going BIN for more than that.

I played the first couple levels of Alien 3 this morning. It's pretty damn good. I don't have too many scrolling shooters, probably the closest thing I got is Star Wars for the SNES. I have to say it's nice playing a Genesis game for a change and not dealing with the SNES slow down.

yeah they charged you a ridiculously high for Sonic 3. That game is not even complete without having the other half, Sonic & Knuckles.

Wow, $13 for Sonic 3? I'm not saying you got ripped off, but it makes me appreciate the $20 deal I got with all three and a dozen more games (all complete) and a Game Genie with all the updates a couple of weeks ago.

Still, good going on some of those.

Yeah, it's not a great price, but I don't think it's a bad price to pay for it either. The game is definitely worth 13 bucks, imo. Just make sure you grab S&K to get the complete experience.

Pretty nice purchases. Skitchin' is one of my favorites.

But yeah, I refuse to pay more than like $5 for anything. I know that's a really hard bargain to live by, but it's a personal rule I've made for myself so I don't blow tons of money on old games and wonder what happened. However, shipping usually tears me a new one.

... and if the games aren't complete, I don't want them, nor would I give a buck for them.
