View Full Version : BattleTech: A Game of Armored Combat
We've got a great way for you to cap off your week. First, a review (http://www.sega-16.com/Battletech%20review.htm) of that awesome mech action game, BattleTech. Blowing things up has never been so much fun, and nothing equals the sheer euphoria of watching your enemies driven before you, except maybe hearing the lamentations of their women.

I do believe in earlier versions of Mechwarrior it was called the Timberwolf mech. Either that, or that was what it was called over here for a while.
Looks like a good game. Was it only released in America or was it also released for PAL systems? *hopeful look*

There's two main factions in Battletech, divided into several other factions. The technologically superior Clans and the Inner Sphere. This causes some confusion because both have different names for the 'mechs. The Clans call it the Timber Wolf and the Inner Sphere calls it the Mad Cat (because it looks like an amalgamation of two other 'mechs, the Marauder and the Catapult).
Though Timber Wolf is the real name since it's a Clan built 'mech, Mad Cat is generally the more popular and more frequently used name for the 'mech and that's what it's called in this particular game. You've probably seen it referred to as the Timber Wolf in Mechwarrior 2.

Between this game, AoBaR, SoR, and Exo Squad, my friend Derek and I wasted a ton of summer afternoons..

Just recently started playing this one. However, 1st player controls leave so much to be desired. I hate not being able to strafe enemies and bases. Anyone ever try playing this game with 2 controllers on 2P mode? Left hand on a gamepad to pilot the mech, right hand on a flight stick to control torso movement and firing?

Sorry, no PAL-release, at least not in Germany. Maybe Australia got a PAL-release?
