is king salmon the best genesis fishing game?
Hoo boy, ya got me there. I honestly haven't played any of the Genesis fishing games and haven't the foggiest idea what they're like, so I'd like to know too.

If you put aside for the moment that they're all terrible, some people swear by King Salmon. I've only played the TNN Bass Tournament, or whatever it's called, and was very much bored.

I never cared much for the 16-bit fishing games, but there was a pretty good one for dreamcast where you used a special controller to reel 'em in.

There was more than one that used that controller.

I used to love Black Bass on the NES, but never really got into another fishing game after that. Maybe I should start checking out the fishing titles for Genesis as well...hrm...

Oh geez... Black Bass. I completely forgot about that game. I used to rent it a lot back during the NES days, loads of fun for a fishing game.

I never said that there was only one though.

How about a resurrection of this thread? I believe the best Genesis fishing game was TNN Outdoors Bass Tournament 1996. However, the best 16 bit fishing game trophy goes to SNES, and that is Bassin's Black Bass w/ Hank Parker.

Get a Dreamcast. I hear it put out some solid fishing games, and they even came out with a fishing pole peripheral. Though I can't imagine these are easy to come by. Talk about ahead of its time with the peripherals though. In your face, Wii.

Yeah, and virtua tennis, its fucking fantastic. Actually I got tired of it probably just like i would if i owned a wii. Those rods are not rare at all really, but getting them new in box on ebay still costs more than it should. Fucking bloodsuckers on ebay :(

Yeah, you can use the fishing rod in Soul Calibur and Virtua Tennis. It's pretty nifty, but glitchy enough that it wasn't officially advertised.

I'm not a big fan of fishing games but I used to play Bass Masters Classic on the Sega Channel and it seemed polished enough to be a decent game for someone who likes virtual fishing. You may want to check it out.
