Here's an oddity I spotted yesterday... a 32X game in a plastic Genesis type case with paper sleeve insert. It was a sports game, so I didn't note the title, but it seems every 32X title I see otherwise, even browsing eBay, is in the standard cardboard box.
So what did I see? A custom case? I know that 32X carts won't fit in Genesis cases without modification...

They would fit in EA cases though right? That could be a way to do it.
Did you see something like this?

Those are original boxes. Acclaim used clamshell cases for all its 32X games, and most people just toss out the cart and use the box for the rest of their 32X collection.

Except Mortal Kombat 2. Acclaim felt plastic was too good for that game, apparently. But I stocked up on Quarterback Club games just to use the cases for the rest of my 32X collection.
I need to do that. I really hate cardboard. :(

I hate cardboard as well. I scanned in the covers of the three games I own that came with cardboard, (ATP Tour Championship Tennis, Mega Bomberman, Sonic & Knuckles) and printed them on premium photo paper. They came out alright, and I had to cut off one side of plastic tabs that hold the cart and S&N fits in the clamshell quite well.
Nothing can replace plastic as far as I'm concerned. I'm getting nervous about Pier Solar's fancy, glossy cardboard box. Few things have terrified me in this life, and thinking about the quality of this future game case brings me to the point of having a panic attack.....
