After watching a ton of videos showing off "The holy grail of gaming the NWC cart" I was wondering would any one take me up on this idea of making a Genesis World Championship cart I mean I could already see it too. First, Sonic The Hedgehog 1 (Get through Green Hill Zone Act 1 in the least amount of time multiply by one). Second, Paperboy ( Get through the first stage and complete the training course multiply by 2). Third, Columns (Finish out the rest of the time limit multiply by 5). Its time that we Genesis owners get a real Championship cart not just a retarded Blockbuster cart that has only two carts floated around!

Why Paperboy? That's not all that big of a classic. Columns, Sonic, and Super Monaco GP would be a much better match-up.

No, I think it should have Alien Soldier, Panorama Cotton and Puyo Puyo Tsuu!

Paperboy would certainly not be on any "Greatest Hits", though I enjoyed it. I always thought Paperboy 2 was better, but then that opinion was destroyed by you guys on here.

I think a Sonic 3, Vectorman, Earthworm Jim cart would be cool.

Ah, what are we kidding about? You know that mine would prolly be NHL 96, NBA Jam TE and Bill Walsh College Football '95 anyways. Never mind the licensing nightmare!

For the best parallel between the real NWC cart and Genesis, it would be:

Collect 50~100 rings in Sonic 1
Complete 2 or 3 stages of Outrun
Play Columns until time runs out.

Personally I would prefer Sonic 2 and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, but that wouldn't be a proper parallel to the NWC cart.

I second that notion.

What I meant to say was Sonic The Hedgehog 1 then Road Rash 1 or 2 or 3 doesn't matter then Columns.

That still wouldn't quite work since Road Rash levels are pretty f'n long. If you really want to be exactly equivalent, Rad Racer was a total and complete Outrun clone, so its only right to use Outrun for the competition.

Thats true but back to my original question will anyone out there (Who still makes Genesis games or knows how to do it) make it? Scratch ut Road Rash and put in Outrun too.

I'm not too familiar with what exactly was on the NWC cart, but is it some unwritten rule that one of the games has to be a puzzle game? If not, Sonic 2, Outrun, and I would love to see Lightening Force (something like complete 3 of the first 4 selectable levels on 1 credit or score attack for the first 4 stages) represented on there, seeing as it's one genre that really excelled on the Genesis.

the NWC 1990 (the only well known Nintendo competition cart, the one that was held nationwide) consisted of the following:

Play SMB until you got 50 coins
Play the first level of Rad Racer
Play Tetris until time runs out

and had score multipliers for the later games.

I think NWC 1990 was trying to be the most popular games for the system, but to make a perfect Genesis equivalent it would have to be Sonic, Outrun, and Columns.

The only reason it's the holy grail of the NES is because there are only about three of the damn things.

actually its more like 86 I think, 20 something gold and the rest gray. Not sure of the exact number, but its something around there. There's actually a rarer competition cart which was like the college championships or something and there's only 1 or 2 of those known to exist, even the repro is like $80.
