X'Eye/Wondermega: The second one probably works, and the first probably won't fit even if you trim the back. Can anyone confirm?

CDX/Multimega: would the original fit? There's nothing "behind" the cartridge slot to get in the way, but it would probably be awkward. Any ideas? I'm sure the PBC2 works fine, though.

LaserActive (with Sega add-on): I've been told that due to the hardware inside, no version of the Power Base Converter will work. Anyone know for sure?

I could not find any of this information on GameFAQs.

I don't know about the others, but I don't think the PBC would work with the LaserActive at all, considering how it's set up. The Genesis unit is front-loaded, so connecting the PBC would really be impractical to say the least.

IT DOES WORK WITH THE LASER ACTIVE!!!! OMGOZOR!!!

I think it would work on the CDX/Multimega just remove the case that's all.

I don't want to take it out of its shell.

Yeah, that's what I meant. You'd have it hanging there, all vulnerable. Not my cup 'o tea.

The only real limitation you have is the design of the powerbase converter.

what you COULD do is get one of the SMS converters like they have at tototek.com

http://www.tototek.com/pio/main1/SUBMENU/PARTS/OS/mark3uskit.jpg

They look like that, but they lack the HuCard reader.

You could also take the powerbase converter apart as well... the insides of it look basically like that... except it is comprised of two PCBs on vertical and one horizontal.

I once removed it and fastened some erector set parts around it (making sure not to short any pins out) so I could easily put carts in it with out having the two PCBs bend all over the place.

Yeah but that's what the PBC 2 is for.

Interesting though, it does disprove what I had been told originally.
