So, I got DUX in the mail on friday and I'm very pleased with my purchase. The CGI sprites are great, the levels are well done, and the music is amazing. I shot over an E-mail to Hucast.net congratulating them on their efforts and I asked how many they sold. He said that they have been doing well and told me that they already moved 1,500 pieces.

Now some have criticized the difficulty but it really isn't that bad. It has checkpoints and they give you 6 lives and 3 continues.

The weapon upgrades are great as well. Lazers, bombs, missles, and hyper charged blasts. Also you can use the "pod" AKA the R-type thing infront of your ship to blast through enemies or soak up their shots.

All in all this is a very competent Dreamcast game. If your still on the fence about buying it I would suggest you take the plunge and if you still haven't picked up Wind & Water Puzzle Battle you can buy a bundle of both games from Redspotgame.com.

I endorse TheEdge's opinion wholeheartedly.
It's a very beautiful and cool looking game, from sprites to music, from gameplay to challenge. Shooter fans will definitely be pleased.

However, if you're a hardcore shmupper it might be worth waiting a little to get the revision disc that should be released soon (scoring issues and minor tweaks involved).
The current disc is still worth it for casual players and DC lovers though.

The scoring bug only affects players on PAL machines not using VGA.

I'm still kind of upset that Kotaku hasn't ran a story on the DUX release. At least IGN has a section for it but they haven't wrote up an article.

I was referring to the impossibility to NOT continue and to the fact that your score doesn't reset or adds a "1" when you continue.

The way I got around this was buy pressing start at the continue screen and when I got back into the game I pressed start again and used the restart options. It should ask "are you sure?" and when you select yes it brings you back to the title screen.

okay...
but how is your score going to be saved if you do this?

I was just addressing the lack of count down timer on the continue screen.
