I rented this game once. All I remember about Sunsoft Superman was that in one stage (can't remember which one) there was a really deep bass line that shook the entire room. I don't remember if it shook the room as hard as level 6 and 8 of the original Streets of Rage, though.

I don't think there's ever been a passable Superman game. This is no exception IMO; avoid.

I got a kick out of Death and Return of Superman but it was outclassed by other beat'em ups and was based on one of the biggest dissapointments in comic book history.

Death and Return of Superman is the best Superman game they made for the classic

The only Superman game that I own is the lame NES version. I heard the N64 version is horrendous and the Genesis version is not a very good game either.

I've always wondered, how would someone make a passable game about a nigh-invincible character with super strength, heat vision, and what-nots? :)

Perhaps Superman can star in an adventure game? Or make Superman save people from danger in a time limit while negating obstacles? There is indeed little what you can do with an invincible character.

But Superman can fly fast enough to go back in time. The only genere where Superman *might* be portrayed well may be RPGs. Since the focus would be more on the storyline, and less about Superman's powers.

The greater the power, the greater the challenge needed to it. There have been Superman comics where he has been put to the test, it just typically requires something big enough in scope. I don't see why a video game couldn't follow such an idea.

All Superman games to this point have had terrible design -- like Superman "dying" in a fight against biker thugs or some such, or having his powers stripped depending on level with little to no explanation for this -- and it stems from idea men and programmers who lack either talent or passion.

Have you played, or atleast heard of, the NES Superman game??

I played the NES Superman in ROM form a few years ago and all I remember about it is that you start as Clark Kent and change back and forth or something, and that it looked and played horribly.

I'm willing to wade through a sub par game if I love the characters involved ( lots of star wars and x men games come to mind) but the problem with supes is he's juts a lame character. No tension is ever built because you know he will save the day with minor casulties if any.
