Anyone played this?
I've run across several used copies through the years, and there happens to be one right now at the local EB. I've been playing the hell out of Genesis Viewpoint lately, and I'm curious about this one.
Is it more or less just Viewpoint with pre-rendered graphics and tons of slowdown?

I used to own Viewpoint for PSX. It wasn't exactly hot.
The graphics are "3D" and while it doesn't look horrible, it's actually not as good visually as the "2D" graphics. The soundtrack is CD quality, but they used completely new tunes, and they just plain suck.
The slowdown is pretty bad, but if I recall correctly, the Genesis version had pretty bad (possibly worse) slowdown too. The Neo Geo version is where it's at.
I find it somewhat interesting that this game was made by Sammy.

I can attest to the gratuitous slowdown of Genesis Viewpoint, but for the most part its a godsend. The accurate dodging of projectiles has always been my downfall with Viewpoint on the Neo Geo, so the snail's pace that Genesis Viewpoint is often reduced to during moments of calamity is a bit of a stress reliever.
..but yeah, odd that Sammy would choose to make this game, especially considering that it was their only Neo Geo project. They must have had some stellar inspiration to tackle a genre they'd never explored on a console unfamiliar to them.
Still, they've gone on to make a couple of shooters since then.. I've played a bit of Change Air Blade, and that there's a nifty one.
So j_factor, how did PlayStation Viewpoint play? Aside from the slowdown issues, did it control half decently?

I didn't run into any particular control issues. The Playstation d-pad kind of sucks for this game, but that's to be expected. In terms of response and such, the controls are just fine.

I think I'll be picking'er up. At the very least it should be comparable to the fun I've managed to have with Genesis Viewpoint.
..and a mighty thumbs up to the sig. If the world knew what was good for it, it would demand more Jet Set Radio!
EDIT: Just realized that I forgot the "If" in the beginning of that there last sentence. Without that "If," well.. grammar catastrophe all around.
