View Full Version : Verytex
So many shmups were left in Japan, and sometimes that was a good thing. such was the case with Asmik's VeryTex, which was pretty darn mediocre. Read our full report (http://www.sega-16.com/2006/02/verytex/) to see just how much.
A decent shooter from the folks at ISCO (the game's actual developer). I will say that the music is what shines the most about this game.

I remember renting this game. I remember it had good music that reminded me slightly of how Midnight Resistance sounded. That's all I can say about Verytex.

Sakimoto definitely did some fine work on the Gen/MD.

Hopefully I covered all the bases that needed to be covered; it's my first review after all... Not that there were many things to tackle about this game though, except for the music. Lovely.

If there's one thing I love, it's utter average-ness. I oughta try this.
Love the name, by the way. Verytex? Very...tex? Very Texan?

Introduce it into the middle schools and that slang could really take off. The world will of course hate you, but oh well..

Lol, I feel a forum trend coming on.

Looks like the Sega-16 has a new forum meme.

This slang is going places. Of course, if it makes it into Texas, we'll all be assassinated for extreme Texan disrespect by the Federated Texas Revengeful Undersquad, the existance of which cannot be disproven because I certainly didn't make it up just now.

He's right, I've had many an epic conflict with them in the past.
Does anyone here go to the Lost Levels.org forums? "Verytex" is going to be our "GRATE!" :D

I can give that game one thing; I love it's music. It does indeed just suck you right in. I am listening to Act 2's music and I cannot stop. :)

I work with this guy from Texas, and I asked him if he knew Hank Hill, and he also said he doesn't give a shit if I mess with Texas.
See? He was being so verytex about the whole thing I bet. Texans are cool like that.

The music for the Act 1 in Verytex is one of the most epic themes ever to be composed for a shmup.
It's irresistible, it urges you to blast some nasty spacecraft!

It's a love it or hate it kind of game.
It doesn't add anything to the shooter genre, but it plays fantastically and has the greatest music ever.
If you find it cheap enough (10-15 bucks), you should get it.

LoL picked up a 4in1 pirate cart and this game is on it. Not too bad. The music kicks ass though.

The music is good but the enemy attack waves just repeat with little variation which is quite a shame as it is far from the worst shooter i have seen.

That final boss, really how the fuck could you avoid him?!
What I did was park my ship to a certain place on top of the screen where he couldn't attack me and just let me missiles do the work.
