I just started thinking... If I am pretty anal about having boxes how do my other genny buddies are?
Out of my whole genesis collection I only have 2 loose games
Super Monaco GP and Super Hang On....
So how many loose ones you got? None? 2? 10? All Loose?

Great question.
Bypassing grammatical butchering, I'd have to say I'm also quite "anal" about collecting CIB games. But I've only recently become a "hardcore" collector. 64 out of 122 games in my Genesis collection are loose cartridges. I plan to replace them all with Mint CIB versions. I'm also quite "anal" about incomplete items in general. I still have some boxed games without manuals, which I also plan to replace with Mint CIB versions (unless the manual is all that's required to upgrade them to Mint CIB condition). Only 41 out of 122 games are actually Mint CIB/Sealed (I plan to open those sealed ones soon enough).

Probably 60-70 loose, and that's only Genesis games. Another 50 or so NES games loose, 8 32x games loose, about 20 SNES games loose.

Currently at 139 loose. 3 doubles and 2 game genies.
They account for a little over half of my collection.

215 Boxed with manual, about 7 loose.
Loose ones mostly come from friends or i keep them just in case i ever buy an eprom programmer.
edit : still looking for a manual for Todd's Adventures in Slime World (U) and Jurassic Park (U)
so if anyone has one in their leftover manual collection lemme know.

Probably 40-50 loose. For me it comes down to space and cost. I don't have much space and loose carts are cheaper. I play games though, I'm not really a collector.

I've got 1 loose cartridge, the US version of Flashback, which I shouldn't have gotten in the first place. But that's what you get when you buy from an importer who mistakenly puts a US game in PAL packaging. Got a loose PAL cart to fix the problem, but now I'm still left with that US thing. It's a blemish upon my otherwise pristine collection.

35 loose but only 9 boxed. Frankly I don't care if I get the box or not.

Sold all my loose carts in a job lot over on the Retro Gamer forums over a year ago, everything is CIB now.

None.
My MD collection is 98% boxed, aside from 32x games. I have a load of loose MD games around though, including some which I've since bought again complete, but don't really want to part with for various silly sentimental reasons - and others I just can't get rid of (or don't want to be bothered). My SNES/N64 games are almost all loose, Game Gear probably about 50/50. Stupid cardyboard boxes.
The worst thing to buy loose has to be CD games imo - what's the point?

I have three loose MD carts - James Pond 2 : Robocod, Mega Games 6-in-1, and Sonic & Knuckles.

I would estimate that about 2/3's of my collection is loose... I got a little wild when places like Gamestop were getting rid of their Genesis games.. and bought just about anything that was in good condition...

Not many:
Xperts (spit), PGA 2, Red Zone, and Moonwalker.
I'd say 50/50. I do have many loose games, but I also have a fair bit of boxed games to compensate.

I'll have it. My Mega Drive is region-modded.

Out of 37 games only 3 are loose. Pretty good record. Not all boxes have the original cover though.

I have 3 loose Genesis cartridges: Altered Beast, Batman Returns and Space Harrier 2. I've had a strict self-policy of only buying games complete with the box and manual for some time now.

I have a boxful of them (it's not that big a box, probably about 20 carts at most).

At the time being, none. I've sold them all off, and now I only buy CIB.
Everything I have is loose because the young idiot me threw away all the boxes.

About 1/2 my collection is loose. Largely because the fellow I got a bulk of them from didn't have the boxes. Still, it doesn't bother me so much, I grab the boxes when I can find them and handle them with care.

my collection is currently at some 50+ games, four of which are loose carts. However, I also got some 20+ unlicensed games (mostly chinese), and those are all loose.

All of them. I traded my only CIB copy to QuickSciFi not too long ago. It was Dynamite Headdy.

It's all good man. I needed some Saturn games:D Thank you for those Saturn games by the way. CK2 is probably one of my new favorite games.

Of the 65 genesis games I have only 15 do I have the boxes for..and about half of those the manual as well. Not having the "box" doesn't bother me unless it's of the CD or DVD variety.

I try to buy CIB, but lately, with space at a minimum, I'm considering going loose...

Too many to count...
NO, I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT WOMEN! :p
I have stray copies of Shining Force II, Gunstar Heroes, Dynamite Headdy, Light Crusader, McDonald's Treasure Island Adventure, Thunder Force II and III, Shinobi III, Ranger X, Mutant League Football and Hockey, Streets of Rage II and III, Gaiares, Arrow Flash, El Viento, Valis, Elemental Master, Shaq Fu (MWHAHAHA!), Street Fighter II Champion Edition, Sparkster, Castlevania Bloodlines, Alisa Dragoon, Granada, Quackshot, and Chakan.
I probably missed a few up there, but these ones are the important games worth noting for me.
The only games I have with a case are the original Shining Force (CIB), Gain Ground, Kid Chameleon, Rocket Knight Adventures (CIB), Contra Hard Corps (CIB), Lightening Force (CIB), Eternal Champions (CIB), Toejam and Earl, Revenge of Shinobi, Jewel Master, and Chiki Chiki Boys.

All 22 of them. Well Sonic 3 had the box (no manual) and I trashed it because it doesn't fit in my game rack.

No loose ones, but my only CIB games are Sonic 1/2 on the SMS.

I used to be a "CIB only" kinda guy, but I've found too many great loose games for cheap. I'd say about half of my Genesis collection is loose carts. I figured I'd have been a fool to pass up LandStalker and Dynamite Headdy @ two bucks a pop, just because they were missing their manuals and boxes.

I would say that about 2/3ds to 3/4 of mine are loose, but I have a lot of boxes too.
It really doesn't matter to me, in fact, if a game is two or three dollars cheaper if it's loose and it is very common, I'm still going to buy it.
