Vote for what you think will be the next franchise to be remade. Options from the Sega-16 bit era, to stay with the site.
You can eliminate Chakan, VectorMan, and SoR from that poll, unless Sega's decided to revive their cancelled projects. My best bet would be Afterburner, although a Kid Chameleon done a la Rayman 2: The Great Escape would be awesome.

There was an Afterburner game at Sega's E3 theatre...was it on a next-gen system?

It was a semi-complete version of Afterburner, to the point where a HUD and enemies were viewable, played on the XBOX360. And it looked amazing!

Edit time!
EDIT: Forget it, you apparently can't edit polls.

So if they've already announced Afterburner, then Melf's guess has to be wrong, correct?

Wasn't this supposed to be an unannounced title?
Hmm, that's true. What other major franchise would they be considering bringing back though? Altered Beast and Shinobi have already been revived, the Shining series and Phantasy Star are alive and well, and a few others were shown at E3.
Streets of Rage would be the only other one I can think of, unless it's Wonder Boy. Westone did announce on their site that they were looking for 2D designers and such, so...

If it was a sequel to Comix Zone, alone with a whole new cd of American records songs, I'd grab it right away.
I would love that, but STI is dead, and the whole team spread all over the place. It's like Eternal Champions (another possible candidate?), unless a new team does wonders, I'd prefer the original group.

For a new Comix Zone I sure as hell would prefer if they didn't use the god damn cel-shading technique. Why hasn't anyone tried using jittered edges for rendering? One of my friends tried that for Quake 1, and it looked pretty damn awesome. It's a much better way of creating that gritty, comic-book feel.
