Virtua Fighter question...

I heard that you can assign combos to the X, Y, and Z buttons, but I can't figure it out. Help? Was it just referring to the third control scheme?

I don't recall any scheme like that.
I do remember being able to configure the controlls for a more "arcadish" feel on the pad. But as for asigning combos to buttons. . .that's just something I've never seen on a fighting game.

You might be thinking of shortcuts like X=A+B Y=B+C, and Z=A+C.
That's the only thing I've seen the XYZ buttons used for in Sega's 3D fighters.

Also, asigning a whole combo to a button is not only lazy, but unwise as well.
I could just remember what combos are assigned and plan a conter-attack accordingly.
