Sega:This is our best ever line-up (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/35758/Sega-This-is-our-best-ever-line-up)

Mario and Sonic, Aliens vs. Predator, Planet 51 and Bayonetta to benefit from massive marketing support

Publisher Sega will spend millions on promoting its “greatest ever” release slate.

The firm showcased its software line-up to retail at its Fast Forward event last week, revealing details of the likes of Napoleon: Total War, Alpha Protocol, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, Aliens vs. Predator, Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll, Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing, Iron Man 2 and Bayonetta.

And the full line-up is set to benefit from a multi-million pound above-the-line marketing push.

“Our current line-up has to be our best ever,” said
Sega UK’s managing director John Clark.

“It is the best thought out with the best depth and the best content.

We are releasing both Mario & Sonic games pre-Christmas, and this is joined by Football Manager and Planet 51.

Last time Mario and Sonic on Wii came out a while before the DS version.

“We are then finishing the financial year off with Napoleon: Total War, which comes hot on the heels of Empire: Total War.

“And that’s not to mention probably our strongest multi-format Sonic game in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, as well as Bayonetta, Aliens vs. Predator, Vancouver 2010, and Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll.”

UK marketing director Amanda Farr added: “These games will also benefit from our strongest ever marketing support.

“The company is now better structured to take advantage of these products than it was in the past. Advertising media costs have gone down [so we get more for our money], and we are implementing some fantastic campaigns over the next six months.”

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is set to receive the bulk of the advertising spend, as the publisher seeks to beat the likes of Activision’s Modern Warfare 2 and Electronic Arts’ FIFA 10 to the Christmas
No.1 spot.

Doesn't sound all that amazing, but I had a very interesting idea for Sega. So you say this is your best lineup, everyone wants these games?? How about right at the last minute cancel all the games for all systems, and announce them all exclusive for Dreamcast 2.... I know I know I just can't get off the Dreamcast kick!!

^ Ya, it's not very impressive but I have to admit that I'm really looking forward to getting a copy of Alien Vs Predator the minute it hits shelves and I would bet that Bayonetta is going to sell millions of copies.

Other than those two titles I don't really care for the line up. I heard things about Alpha Protocol but it doesn't look too exciting.

fuck, enough with the Mario and Sonic at the Olympics! Why can't they just make a 2D or 2.5D Mario and Sonic platformer? Maybe like a Sonic & Tails or Donkey Kong & Diddy Kong style game where you switch on the fly depending on what you need to do. How about that Sega and Nintendo? How about something people actually want to play? Huh?

Most Sega employees of today aren't familiar with the fact that Sega has been around the video game business before the Dreamcast, so it's not very surprising to hear them call this line-up their "best ever".

Sure they do, someone at SEGA is getting those virtual console games converted! ;) Blast Processing emulation on a Nintendo. I would have thrown-up when I was 14! Now that I'm 29, I just have a bad taste in my mouth.. :yum:

The Bacharu Console can't handle the Blast Processing, leading to inferior ports... All is fine to me.

Go play Sonic Advance 3.

I'm really looking forward to being a suave-as-silk Bond type in Alpha Protocol.

What happened to Colonial Marines? I thought Sega was publishing that. Left 4 Dead with ALIENS sounds brilliant.

Sonic Advance 3 is also mediocre at best, perhaps it's not really the most prudent example.

It fulfils everything you're asking for (minus Mario, of course). By all means, feel free to learn whatever language the GBA is programmed in, edit the SAdv3 ROM and edit Mario in, if you like, but until then it'll be just peachy as a 'second best' option. :)

[edit] I quite enjoyed it. The Green Hill remix music was a nice touch in Sunset Hill. Not sure about the hub stages, though. A minimap, or a 'GO HERE' hint system would have been nice.

Sonic Advance 3 is to a good Sonic game what smooth jazz is to Charles Mingus's Black Saint and the Sinner Lady.

Alright, let's try again, maybe a little more mainstream. Sonic Advance 3 is to a good Sonic game what Oasis is to The Beatles.

Yeah, you had me lost on the first one, maybe some mathematical symbols might help as well!!

Sonic Advance 3:Good Sonic Game = Oasis:Beatles

Oasis<Beatles = Sonic Advance 3<Good Sonic Game

M2 (ex-Treasure) does the VC emulators for Sega (of Japan). They also did the fantastic Fantasy Zone 2 remake for System-16 (http://www.smspower.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11207) for PlayStation 2 (together with the game's original designers, of course).

Agreed! I'm a huge AVGN fan! I think it's because we're about the same age, and I agree on about 98% of things he says.

I am sorry, I really thought you'd not have noticed that huge list I posted because it ended up somewhere among the last few posts on page 1 and when I went through my bookmarks I felt like bumping just in case.

AFAIK they still are publishing it for Gearbox. Hopefully it'll still be completed and released, as it was one title that showed a lot of promise. Online would be great, but I'd settle for a really badass single player campaign if it ever see's the light of day.
