So recently I've been playing some Choplifter on the SMS/C64/MSX
and i was wondering, is there a Choplifter like game for the Genesis?
Its a pretty fun game, i also gave the Arcade version a go but its just too hard.
Anyhoo, The Genesis needs a Choplifter game! with Huey's and Jungle backgrounds
and some Fortunate Son/Woolly Bully/Eve of Destruction/Somebody to love/Nowhere to Run renditions.

Choplifter was one of my early video game experiences. I used to play it on my friend Scott's black and white computer.
I picked up the Master System version about 5 years ago, and Choplifter 3 for SNES a couple of months ago.
Never played choplifter 2 though.

For those who don't know there are 2 fundamentally different versions of this game: the original 1982 Apple II version (ported to Atari 8-bit, C64, 5200, MSX, ColecoVision, and SG-1000 as well I beleive), the 7800 version arguably being the best of these. But Sega licenced the game and made an arcade version in 1986, and it's this which the SMS and NES versions are based on.

Growing up with the IIc, I used to play the Apple II version of Choplifter all the time. I don't think I ever got very good at it, but it sure was a fun and challenging game. Brings back fond memories just thinking about it. :)

At least its playable, the Arcade version is difficult as hell.
And i still say we need a small choplifter game for the Genny, with a Huey and a Jungle.

I spent a lot of my youth with both the 7800 and arcade versions. They're significantly different (as mentioned previously), but for my tastes, the Master System arcade port gets the win. It's really well done.
Pardon the pun, but Air Rescue doesn't quite attain the heights of Choplifter. I'd recommend giving it a look regardless.

I'd like choplifter, rastan, rampage, action fighter, and cyborg hunter on one cart that plays on the genesis.

:notworthy: that joystick for the Atari is
there's Choplifter III on SNES.
which TOTALLY fkin RULES:!: :!: :!:
I feel like the SNES version is the best I ever played... I'd originally played it on a cousins Commodore when I was 6. The SNES versions looks amazing, plays amazing, and has all the ridiculous difficulty of the one I played on Commodore, so I'm set with it.

Oh, man, Air Rescue. There's a game that I put some time into, only to discover that the last level is basically unplayable. The control scheme is manageable in the first four levels, but becomes impossible when you're trying to navigate through narrow caverns. Over and over again, you'll come to a full stop, press in a new direction -- only to have your copter continue a few pixels in the old direction, crash into a wall, and explode. Not good.
Add to that the fact that some turrets seem to become temporarily invincible, or can only be damaged if you hit exactly the right pixel, and you've got a game that'll make you want to snap your controller (http://www.viddler.com/explore/retrospekt/videos/4/).

I play Choplifter for the SMS on my CDX... just use the Neo Myth or Everdrive-MD. Both allow you to play SMS games on the MD (they act like a PBC). That and the old Star Wars vector graphics game are rather fun. Actually, there's quite a few SMS games I play via the Myth or Everdrive. :)
